Rock Stacker
I know since Losi stopped making the Micro Crawler and Trekker there hasn't been much in the way of development for the 1/24 micros but I found some pretty cool tires that I thought I'd share. Granted, they don't look very nice, but they're so soft and chunky that they climb extremely well.
They are "Monster Treads" from the Tomy John Deere "Tractor with Armor" (Not the "Gator with Armor" which is the same scale but different tread pattern.)
They peel right off and glue nicely onto Basher Rocksta Micro Crawler Wheels (Part 92647) which are a couple dollars from Hobby King and have the standard 7mm hex (The diameter is just right - bigger than 1.0" but they have to be glued).
From left to right in the picture are some of the others I've tried:
Losi Micro stocks, ECX 1/24 Temper stocks (non-removeable faux beadlocks), RC4WD Super Swampers on Redcat Sumo Micro Crawler Wheels (minus the beadlocks), The Monster Treads, and finally Miclaws on Redcat wheels with Dirt Modeler rings. The Miclaws do crawl better but good luck finding some.
In the picture they look like hard plastic V-tread monster truck toy tires but they are soft and sticky. They are a bit wide and rub on the links for now. I'm either going to narrow them, use wheel spacers/wideners, or use a makeshift rock ring to flatten/push the inside to the rim level and force the excess over the outer edges (when gluing them the beads of each side of the tire are pinched together to fit the narrower rim which creates a taller profile that I like).
I am using these on my 1/24 ECX Temper (which is great with a few suspension tweaks) and will post a picture of the setup soon.
