Start of a new Deadbolt project. Lets call it Project: Cheapbolt

it makes for good times when the whole family gets involved, keep up the deadbolt project lookin forward to seeing more what ya doing with it.

Yes it does! We all have crawlers and short course trucks and have a blast with em. "thumbsup"

Here is how the truck sits right now with it's new wheelbase and the rear bumper mounted. The bumper is from a JK, has the spare tire mount removed. I had to extend the mounts just a bit to fit the body.

Next up is to get the front bumper mounted up.

subscribed. Awesome build. I just purchased a used scx10 and after reading all 10 pgs i cant wait to get it and start modifying it. Im very interested to see how the new F650 body turns out. I thought that the original deadbolt body looked sharp but gotta admit i like the big truck look too.

That body looks very natural on there

It has blown me away at how natural it looks on here, like it belongs. 8)

I love the original Deadbolt body! I just hated when going out in a group getting lost in a sea of them, so had to be a little different. ;-) I too am digging the big truck look. Enjoy your SCX-10, they are fun little trucks...and addictive.

Looks great! Nice job on the bumper stretch too! "thumbsup"

Thank you. Looks like I might be able to get away with not stretching the front bumper mounts. "thumbsup"

Front bumper in place. Went with a Dingo front bumper.

It fits the body very well in my opinion. The curve and size seems right for this body. :) Even though it came with light buckets for the bumper, I plan to mount my winch there.
Next up is to get this body painted....if my black paint ever gets here. It has been in the same USPS location for five days now grrrr....... I have all the other colors I need but want to start with my dark colors first.
More to come. :)

Small update, got the winch mounted up. Using a wireless HeyOK winch controller to spool it in and out.

Next up? Will prob stretch the old inner fenders to meet up with the new body.

Since my black paint came in yesterday I decided it was a fine time to paint the body. I used Tamiya rattle cans on this all except for the chicken lights, I used brush paint on them. Originally I as going to go with a simple blue-violet and white two tone but instead I went for a "custom shop" truck look. At first I was a bit worried that a busy and loud paint scheme might not work but I am glad I went with it.
On to some pics,

Some of the companies whose parts make up project Cheapbolt.

I had to bend up the end of the body clips in the front so they wouldn't dig into the windshield.

Eventually I will add some interior. Thinking about using the Pro-Line interior but looking at some other ideas as well, keeping my options open. ;)
Thank you for looking, stay tuned for more.

Looking good Prime. What a difference it makes between the new body and the old Deadbolt body. Its a totally different truck. I approve!!

Love the thread. I just got my first rc since I was a little kid. I got a used g6 falken last Friday and love it. Now you've gave me a lot ideas for it. Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback guys. 8)

It totally is, next to our stock Deadbolt it doesn't look like this truck could have started it's life as one too.

Totally Bad-A$$!! but I'm guessing "Cheap-bolt" no longer applies? no? ;)

LOL agreed, the "Cheap" part has been slowly sliding out the window...

I think DEADBOLT BODY WAS WAY SICKER.....That body look like the mall truck that runs around my house.....

She won't be shiny and fresh for long. ;) I really do like the deadbolt body, was just to common for my taste.

That method can make amazing wood grain in a lexan truck bed

Hmm... that sounds like something I am going to have to try. 8)

That F650 body is sweet!

Also like the way you made the inner fenders on the old deadbolt body. Might have to use that idea on my honcho.

Thank you. It is a great way to make a cheap set of inners. I think I am just going to extend these ones to fit the new body.
