Sonoma County Crawlers

Tree trimings ?

The wife wanted me to trim some of our trees around the house that I was not happy about doing, so when the yard can was full I had few left over branches so into the garage we go this is what I've done so far.

Chevy: How's the 1:1 coming along? Post up a pic! Hope to see you on the 9th!!

Bluc10: Come on down to the Comp on the 9th (bring your rig!) and talk to the guys, I'm sure you'll find plenty wanting to GTG for some practice. A weekly deal sounds like a good idea, got a spot in mind?

Frank: Aaaahhh, setting up some practice obstacles? Very nice!!

It's coming alright lack of funds keeps progress slow. I have pieced together a rig for the comp just in case mine doesnt show up in time, the only thing I need is an Axial tranny, if someone have one that I could like borrow for the day or something that would be so greatly appreciated.

Here are a couple pics of the 1:1 and of my backup rc truck ( its WK axles and tires and wheels on an axial frame with mixmatched links 3 link up front and 4 link out back on my old comp body)

New set of 38's, got 1 ton lights installed, engine tranny and transfercase in also.

Thanx Jake Ill be their, I was at all your other ones. I surprised myself by taking 6th in your last comp and 12th in the series. Asfar as GTG goes we got Goat rock, the underpass, FG, one placs in windsor and Im sure if everyone wants to to this we can find a good place. Anyone down for a weekly GTG if so think about spots. later.

checked out a new spot. go south on 12, left on adobe canyon road, couple of miles down the road there is a trail on the left, easy 5 minute walk, in under the second bridge it is all rock. spied several areas that were pretty cool. of course the truck broke in the first 5 minutes of being there so i just walked the creek bed. i need some of those little cones.

jake, can i buy these cones in bulk?

nick

All: Looks like we might be short 1 or maybe even 2 judges this Saturday .... If anyone would like to step up and help me out, I would REALLY appreciate it! Shoot me an e-mail, or just let me know the morning of the Comp. Thanks!!!

Chevy: The 1:1 looks like a project! I'm sure it will be sweet when it's finished up!

Bluc10: Hey Chris!!!

Nick: Bummer about breaking the rig, but better to have it happen during practice and not at the comp!

hey Nick I went and checked out your spot today are u talking about Sugarloaf State Park if so it was pertty cool not a bad place to have a GTG.

Jake: Ding Ding that mans good. In the norcal comp rules I thought I read that the start and finnish gates dont count is this true. I see you need some juges for the comp please, please make sure that thay all know the rules at some of your last comps some of the tables had different rules(1.2 - Back Up/ Reverse: (1 pt) point is given when a vehicle reverses course after making forward progress). Thanx for all the parts and support. Are you going to stock the Bonus Line Chomoly Lockers. Thanx

sugar loaf state park. you found it, good. not sure if that little part is part of the park or not. i was there for about an hour and saw no one else. i kinda scoped out 3 good areas to set up courses.

next area to check out is the back of annadell where it meets lawndale. i seem to remember a creek bed in there somewhere........

nick

The trail you are thinking of is Schultz trail. It follows a creek for a few hundred yards as it climbs. Problem with this trail is the limited amount of parking, maybe one or two cars at the most. The Lawndale trail has an actual parking lot, but there is no creek until you hike about a mile or so(?). Not 100% sure about Lawndale creek location.

Jake, I volunteer to judge, my rig is running but....

Nick: Sorry, I missed answering this last time ... Depending on how many packages you need, we can do a bulk deal on the Pro-Line gate markers. Of course, tennis balls cut in half also work great!

Chris: We stock the Stage 3 Racing lockers. As for the judging, as long as the judge does the same thing for everyone on his course, then it's ok. I'll usually explain any rule questions to them and make sure it's always better next time. But, the main thing is to be consistent for everyone on their course, even if they get a rule slightly wrong, it will be equal for everyone. (hope that makes sense!)

Can someone post a mapquest link to the spots nick and Chris are talking about? I've been wanting to ride my bike at Sugarloaf .... But, having a crawl day there sounds like a great idea!

Rudy: Bring the rig too! It's all for fun and if needed you can judge and run the courses too.

Jake thanx for the info. Just mapquest adobe canyon road its off of hwy 12 at the end after all the houses just befor you start up hill there is a dirt parking lot on the left with the creek within 10 ft. but there is deep water crossings and lots of big rocks but I had fun! Hope this helps!

Just a heads up on parking in Adobe Canyon. If you park in any turn outs past the State Park sign, then you will have to pay the day use fee or risk getting a ticket from a Ranger.....lot more 'spensive Lucy than the day use fee......

We had a good time, Thanks Jake. Here's a few shots of the course 1
