SO Whats Up With Servo Horn Screws Always LOOSE!! ARGHH!!!!

YUP that's Whats called TEARING up a SERVO I admit I Messed it up but still pulls and tugs hard and since I have the gears im going to run a little longer on there and see.... BUZZZZ..... BUZZZZ......

I didnt mean to make you buy a set of servo gears, although they are good to have spares of. What I was saying was that typically the aluminum servo horn is the piece that wears out if it is allowed to flop around on the servo output because the aluminum horn is, typically, much softer material than the servo output shaft.

BUZZ MEATMONKEY OH NO you did not make me buy anything actually I beat this servo up testing and crawling it on pretty hard areas and on one of the falls it
stripped some gears probably the large gear that the servo horn attaches to its wobbly and loose so once it gets cold here in Nashville again in the next couple weeks I will start modifying the truck and swap the servo!!!

Now don't mind having the gears I have 2 Raw 500 servos that are going to the four steer TRX4 comp rig project but the servo even loose is pulling at least 250 oz of torque plus so a great servo and yes the loctite worked flawlessly so thanks again!! BUZZZZ........

here is a quick vid from yesterday going some side runs it doesn't look hard but the tree trunk its climbing is steep and a good 60 degrees angle if not more and the servo is a little stripped inside yet working good... BUZZZZZZ......

Might not reccomend it for others, but as far as getting the screw out after loctite, ive been using red loctite on all mine for a while (overkill, always) and never had one not come out. I even tried loctite-ing the horn itself to thw splines before i quit using the clamping ones.

Right on Yeah yesterday I had put too little lactate and I used about double that on the run today and even with the servo stripped it still moved above 300lbs of torque on the side runs im posting a quick vid of that run today!!!
BUZZZZZ.....

Re: SO Whats Up With Servo Horn Honey RUN DEC 2020

BUZZZZZ.... Another warmish December day in Nashville the bees were flying and the park was nice at Dusk to do a final crawl before a couple weeks of ccrappy weather ahead and was working some really nice roots at the park and got a good couple lines there it looks a lot easier but the rig sits pretty low so check it out.....

I noticed that no one mentioned spline count. Make sure your servo horn is the correct spline count for the servo you are using, usually 25 spline but not always. I have had the best luck with the non-clamp style servo horns like the Hot Racing. Every time I used one that has clamping screws they eventually work loose from the servo.
