Hey I finally got mine installed! I actually ended up using a dremel trimmed off the old posts and ridges the vanguard esc mounting bracket used making it just a flat base.
But its just alittle bit too small for the Hobbywing so the outside right edge is basically floating, but I put a dab of crazy glue on the tray and double sided tape on the MAX10SCT first so the little bit of glue would be grabbing the tape not the esc itself. I checked it when I woke up today and its really stuck on there haha but I wanted that. I did leave an air gap in between the esc and the motor : )
My esc was also making one hell of a buzzing noise but I got it quieter by snugging up the four 1.5mm screws that hold the fan shroud.
First impressions are that the cogging effect at low speeds low throttle input is about the same as with the stock Vangaurd (castle) esc.
And I have an extra wire to manage for the motor heat sensor (which I don't have).
Other than that, yea this thing works great, it was easy to setup and I've never even done this before so a big plus there.
Another big plus is it transformed the feel of the stock Tactic Servo AND the glitch noise the steering servo used to make whenever I first turned the power on (until I turned the steering knob left/right to center the steering rack) is almost completely gone now! When I adjust the steering expo or sensitivity knob on the Tactic controller I still have room for adjustment when the steering is already very fast and strong. this is with the output at 6v not 7.4v I am really happy and surprised with this result.
Love the cool sound it makes when I hit the brakes and lock up the tires its much louder than it was before and I kinda like it haha.
very responsive and no problem when I want a burst of speed I get it! I think this is good upgrade if your going to keep a sensorless setup and mostly just bash and do high speed driving.
