sickpuppys TRX-4's life up north..

Is there anyone else having issues with the TFL-axles?
The link-points(dont know what to name them, the points where the links is connected to the axle housing) is way underdimmentioned for some rough usage..
Two of mine has ripped out the threads on the housing, meaning I cant get them to sit tight anymore. I'll take some pictures maybe tomorrow to show what I'm talking about.

But IF some others are having similar issues, or if you can think of a good permanent solution other than trying to replace the threads I would be happy to hear from you!

Ok, I couldn't wait.. Here is a picture..

BTW: Dont think it always is as dirty as this.
This is the aftermath of taking a dive into a mudpool last weekend. I'm doing a cleanup and rebuild with all new bearings on the whole drivetrain..

This is why it's so dirty..

Short story.. It was fun, I wish I'd use some rubber boots, and now I have to overhaul the axles/diffs and portals..

Ok..
Making a short story very long, with loads of irrelevant pictures.. :D
After taking the plunge in the mud-puddle the trx was "bricked" for a while. Because not a single shop in Norway had the bearings that went RIP on me after that stunt..
But on friday night I got a picture from a fellow TRX-owner 250km from where I live, he got a bearing-kit with all bearings lying on his shelf and I could borrow it until I get the ones I've ordered.. So on saturday I ended up with a roadtrip with the misses.
And after 500km I finally got the bearings at my place and I started mounting directly :)

I also had trouble with the TFL axle housings, the threads holding the link-brackets stripped out. But after contacting TFL via eBay I got to buy just the axle tubes and got them shipped with express, they arrived yesterday, 5 days from China to my mailbox in Norway is acceptable.. :)

Well, I guess you're waiting for some pictures? I dont have a lot from the prosess while mending the trx, but here's a lot from yesterday and todays drive.
Enjoy!

Here's from yesterday, in the background you can see the worlds talles tree-building rising. Mjøstårnet – HENT

Maybe disassemble, clean up real good including remove paint/coating and JB Weld it back together, that's some good stuff.

Yes, some type of seals for the front axle'/portal area would be great. "thumbsup"

I dont know what JB weld is, but I did clean it real good, removed coatings and made all the right things to make it work with Wurths "Hi tack", without any luck.. Even if it got 4 days to dry/harden it just snapped after some light driving..

But I got new axle tubes from TFL yesterday, so now I'm good for a couple of runs again.. I'm going to order yet another set of tubes to have spares.. Dont want to get in this situation in the future..

It started to rain quite a lot, so I took shelter in an abandoned building in the woods, kind of cool I think.. :)

I got a clear body lying here.. I cant decide on how to do that one..
One part of me is thinking of painting it on the inside like it's supposed to.. But I dont like the finish that gives, I like the paintjob to be on the outside, to get some wearing and tearing more scale-right.. If you get a tare in the lexan when it's painted on the inside I think it looks just silly, it shows that it's a toy if you know what I mean..
In the beginning, right after I got the truck I was planning on doing something like this..
0nRoZIr.jpg

I actually still thinks it's kind of cool, but I dont know if I'll do the full cab or if I'll chop another crew cab, I'm leaning towards another CC.. hehe.. I may be boring, but I really love the stance on the Defender body I allready have. The only thing I'm thinking of redoing on my existing Defender is the "floor" in the bed, right now it's made of a steelsheet, I should've made it out of something lighter. But again, it gives the truck a cool, natural bodyroll.. It doesnt chip on the surface, you can see that it's heavy and a truck like this is supposed to be heavy, at least a little.. :)

Weeeeell, now that I've posted the photoshopped render I'm definately not going for that one.. What to do, what to do..

Ok.. So it's always got to be "a first" for everything..
Because.. Yesterday I was out and had a blast with my trx-4 with my buddy with the Bronco.
And I got LOADS of great pictures(at least I think they were great), but I also understand that it would be a lot of uninteresting photos for you guys..
So this time I've decided to pick out some of my children and try to make good choises..
I dont know if I'm gonna be good at this, but I'll try..! :)

Create a Google Plus community. Then you can post as much as you like without guilt and just link here. That’s what I do. Haha.

Awesome build bro! Jealous of those axles. They're sweet! Did you do your paint job on the outside? If yes, how's it holding up to the scratches? My trx-4 is red & I'm not big on the color & would like to paint it without buying a new body. Have a great day!
