Hi, new here. I can say I'm new to the hobby too (TBH I've been out of touch with it since the mid 80s - had a Tamiya Hornet in my early teens, and sub 40$ RC toys for my kids don't count ).

Recently at a local fair, the town's RC club had a booth and I've had the chance to try out a Bully crawler over a small obstacle course... I was hooked. I've looked at cheaper alternatives (Gmade R1 and Axial Wraith) but both had compromises (though they sure look fun - will probably get one later for my son). I'm not looking to comp for now, just crawling around and enjoying it.

At first I thought about getting a RTR Bully II but after reading forums and reviews (maybe too much) I quickly saw the "limitations" of the stock offering and began to browse for upgrades - ESC, Servo, TX... I quickly realised that buying a kit and the right parts would just cost less in the long run. I like to tinker around, fix and build thing but I just lack some knowledge, even though I've learned quite a bit in the last week or so! 8)

So here's what I'm thinking to get, but I just want to make sure everything is compatible and I'm not missing anything...
RC4WD Bully II kit
2x TorqueMaster Expert 540 35T
1x QuicRun WP 1080

BlueBird BLS-42A servo (or SHV500, BK DS-S-HT if budget allows)
Servo horn
BEC (only if I change the ESC for one without, need 7.4V for the servo)
Dig unit (Punk or RC4WD? Are there any others? - except the Novak M2 )
3 channel Receiver (still looking and learning - feel free to suggest. Does it have to be the same brand as the transmitter?)
Battery: LiPo 3S probably around 650-850 mAh

Loctite Blue :ror:

Transmitter: Futaba 3PV or 3PM-X (still looking and learning for these also)

Later upgrades if I see fit: shocks, wheels, wheel weights... various bits and hopups.

Some questions:
1-With the Bully II kit, is there a steering link kit included?
2-About the ESC, would it be better to run a Dual ESC (i.e. TorqueMaster dual BR mini) or a pair of Singles (i.e. Sidewinder 3)? Better as in "safe and reliable". I don't mind a few percents of drop in performance.

3-Can these motors safely run on 11.1V? Or do I have to use the BEC to power them?

Thanks everybody, that's all for now! I will keep on reading the forums, reviews and DIY tutorials to learn as much as possible.
