Shane's GMade R1 Rock Buggy Build

I was going to swap them soon. I dont have an extra set of wheels right now. so I gotta bust up the gmade's. I think that stock foam is too stiff. I tried a set of stock rover foams and they seemed alot better. I just got my moonbuggy berg chassis in as well, so I have been working on that the past few nights.

New tires

Got a set of RC4WD's 2.2 Spooky Crawlers from rubiredunlmtd to test out. And some donated beadlock rings from rubiredunlmtd.

They aren't as grippy as the Etna cuts but they still work good. I put in some stock rover foams. The Spooky foams seemed way to stiff and bouncy, rover foams are alot better. To scale it up more, i think some smaller diameter shock bodies are in need.

I put a modded maxx shaft up front the other day. But the front one started slipping today.
The axle output shaft is drilled through for the stock pass through pins. I drilled it out to 3mm and tapped it. Now, it aint coming loose. Two 3mm screws go almost through the output shaft.

I flipped this over and hit fwd/rev several times and the motor locked up. Like it's not getting power to all 3 phases again. I have unhooked and rehooked the motor wires up several times. That worked last time, guess it was a bad connection. Not fixing it this time. Any suggestions?

I have the 2221-8 in one of my heli's. I always have trouble with it starting if I add throttle slowly it will just start squealing and not start so I have to put throttle hold on advance the throttle a tad and jump start it. Truthfully I was not really happy with the scoripion motors. I hope you get yours sorted out.

I have enjoyed your thread

Thanks for the tips BLUSABER.
It ended up being the 4mm bullet connectors coming from the motor. I guess they had a bad connection or a cold solder, etc. After much troubleshooting, I just cut the bullets off and direct soldered them to the ESC. Fires up like a champ everytime now.

I have added some timing via the CC software. Like you said, it doesn't crawl worth a darn, esp on 18t pinion, but it is a high speed heli motor! It works for rock bashing with me.

On another note, I glued up the stock tires/foams to some HPI 5-Star plastic wheels. Gives it an even wider stance and doesn't look bad either. I'll post some pictures later.

Still waiting on parts from Junfac. 8 days after I bought and paid for some front cvd axle shafts, I finally got a "shipped" notice on them. Still 3WD for now.

how well do the rock crushers perform for ya?

Lance

Quite well, after I removed about 2/3 of the tread! Great for bashing and ok for crawling. I am running a thin 1/2" slice of non memory foam with two 1" wide memory foams on the outside of the non memory. Works ok. The tires are still kinda bouncy, just the compound and sidewall thickness that causes that.
But it doesn't crawl too well right now with the outrunner and 18t pinion.

Still waiting on a front portal axle shaft from S. Korea!

In the meantime, I have sold this truck.

Thanks, i ordered a set with my gmade r1, it should all come in the mail next tuesday, i really liked how scaleish it looks with the rock crushers. Could the r1 be considered a scaler? I mean if you put a driver and some scale accesories on it, pop it on a trailer. Would/could it be called a scaler. Trailered rig.

Idk but i have great plans for this truck, really just cant wait to get it.

Non-sensored brushless motors do that.

ya i know that, this is cogging to wear i cant rilley crawl slow with it ,it wants to cog out then jump

cool wasnt sure, ill keep it around for trail motor it will work good for that thanks duuuuude:mrgreen:

Just Ordered the R1 and front battery plate.
What is the size and spec of your batteries that you are running?
I have a Novak crusher / ballistic 21.5 t to go in but have no idea of what size batts i can fit as yet.
your help and a dice would be appreciated.
