Hello folks,

I'm in the process of building an internal spool servo winch out of an old 7kg/cm servo I have lay about - as a test bed project before picking a more suitable unit for my application.

I see folks have various rated servos in use and whilst I know we all love to have too much power, I wonder what is the general needed amount?. That is without talk of voltage, BECs and other limitations...

My rigs are generally quite light - even my rc4wd leafers I strip back as much as possible. In my mind surely one wouldn't need any more than double the weight of your vehicle rated torque to pull out of a binded climb or such like, infact I could see too much torque being an issue if one was careless. Perhaps even one only needs 1.5 times the weight of the truck...

The other factor of course is that generally a lesser rated servo or low profile unit will be lighter in the first instance which is also of benefit"thumbsup".
