Scratch build '29 Model A Tudor Sedan Ratrod

That rat will look good sending out sparks as it goes down the road. Man looking at that cockpit you really don't have a lot of room for all your electronics. Looks like you will have to use micro everything. That is going to be one heck of task to complete.

Nice floor pan work! Very cool build, and that stance, awesome!
Thanks. It turned out ok I think. The biggest problem is that the tunnel is so high that I'm going to have to make my bench seat into a set of buckets I'm afraid.

It's definitely going to be tight. The firewall/gas tank area is going to be crammed full for sure. I cut the heat sinks off my esc, the rest will probably get de-cased to save as much room as possibly. The lipo pack is another story, I've got a very thin TX lipo that is less than 1/2" thick. I'm going to make a false bottom under the car to house that I think.

PROGRESS!!!

I worked out the link and rear truss for the servo that will be controlling the ride height.

I just brazed a few nuts to a piece of 1/8 round stock steel.

Then I made 4 L shaped brackets to bolt the body to the chassis.

I've got to fit a lipo under here somewhere!

The results...here's the running height

And the lowered height...

Again, here's a comparison.

Next up, mount all of the electronics somewhere. Here are a handful of random pics....

Any chance you can make a tool box or an old steamer trunk to hide the battery behind the seat?, maybe a Moon tank mounted to the rear of the body for a couple small cells?

Or a leather or steamer "trunk" hangin' on the back, with a small heli' pack.
just a thought.

I'm thinking about making a false deck in the back like I did in my C1 Blazer to hide all of the electronics. No leather trunk, but maybe some blankets, a cooler or something to give it a scale look. The problem is that I have to hide a esc and a lipo pack back there and make it look like its not there. I cut the heat sinks off my XL5 esc, but I might have to use a Tekin RS due to the size. As for the lipo pack, I have a 3S transmitter pack I'm going to use. It's less than 1/2" thick and roughly 4" long. I can fit it under the car I think and leave the area behind the seat for the esc and hide the RX behind the firewall. The servo should fit in there too, but if not I'll use a micro servo and hide it in the radiator.

Could you possibly build a little trailer to pull behind and put the battery in it

Haha that's understandable! Would be sweet to have it all in the cab.

Have you made any progress on your hot rod lately? Kinda curious to see

wait!!!!!!!! what if you used a bunch of dromida drone batteries?????? you could make a little harness. but it sure would be a lot of soldering. and a lot of charging. eh... scratch that idea... but its worth a thought or two.

That's not a bad idea, but I'm looking to work "magic", lol. In other words, I want people to ask "Where did you fit all of the electronics?" I might have to give up having a driver in order to fit it all behind the seat. I'll figure something out. The majority of my down time between updating this build thread is pent by me just looking at it and waiting for ideas to come. I might go for a week or two without doing anything but picking it up, turning it over and thinking to myself, "What the hell have I gotten myself into?"

Yes, I'm working on installing all of the electronics now. I'll get a update posted soon.

I'll figure something out. It's been on a shelf collecting dust for a while since I've been focusing on my basement/work area remodel. I'm ready to be done sanding, staining, etc and get back to RC's.

Looks really great - you've got your work cut out for you with finding a way to hide the batteries. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Maybe a trunk on the back? Or a rack on the roof?
