Rusting my BODY

i would really love to give my hilux more of an olish and rusty look. I looked up on youtube some vids, but they are too complicated. And i dont want my whole truggy to be all rusty, i just need some spots here and there. I saw this solution at Michel's which is what some people use. Can i just slap that solution on the body, wrap it in a plastic bag as recommended and let it dry? ANd boom i got rust?? Here is what im looking to do to my body. i have used the search button. I have gone through the first page of threads in the first page, and every one does the rusty look, but no one mentions how to do it

go to your LHS and buy some rust colored acrylic paint in the little jars.And you can just brush it where you need it. thats how i did mine

Acrylic red, brown and orange, with Microballoons filler poured on while the paint is wet:

Thin the paint down to make a wash around the edges. Less is more. You'll develop a technique with a little practice.

Will the Michel's rust paint work too?? It also like dipping your brush in it, then putting it on the body, except you let it sit in a plastic bag for a while :shock: . I dont quite get that.

I used the Sophisticated Finishes stuff from Michaels on that junk. Also used Rustall, chalks and artist's acrylics. I like using a variety of techniques to model different types of rust.

Tamiya makes rust, mud, sand paint for tanks.

the micheals stuff is a 2 part system, first your applying the iron paint and letting that dry overnight, then you add the catylizer to the iron paint adding more or less in areas for a varied effect thats when you can bag it up and let cure overnight and presto..real rust, you can also use the rustall for different kinds of rust look, or both together..a matter of trial and error"thumbsup"
