RESTO MOD - RC10 Nitro DS / 69 Camaro Z28

A DS UPDATE on the 3 Amigos in my garage:

Electric DS:
Now sports Mustang body; HPI wheels and HPI Pirelli tires courtesy from the change in hubs. 3mm ofset in front & 9mm offset in rear. Bearings all around. Has quick take off but top end can be faster. Gear change on order. Some eye candy in form of RPM nuts but overall a clean & quick car. A receiver upgrade is on the way. the hood will have hood scoop painted black soon.

The Nitro DS Challenger "Pinky":
Now known around the apartment as "pinky" due to chassis swap; I thought it was funky to try. Hey, guess what? i like pepto bismol, lol. The bright pink only aids to highlight the inner workings. A Traxxas .15 engine coupled with a paris stiletto pipe powers this little gal. She sports the Challenger body. Bearings all around, this car is a sweet roller. She is short a receiver pack & the lexan trunk body/wing rear of being ready to run. Thats just a matter of me spray painting and mounting the parts. On the way are a set of titanium turnbuckles. This lil car is moving on up. soon buddy soon...soon you'll run the pavement.

Nitro DS Camaro:
This Car is ready to run and sports the Camaro body. Has bearings all around; modern wheels in the form of HPI vintage wheels with matching tires courtesy of a hub change. Rears have 6mm offset and the fronts have none. .12 OS engine powers this little guy coupled with a stock associated muffler. A New Era roll bar was added as well as an Orion Purple cooling head. This sports a pressure bottle...sweet.

Those are all super sweet but I especially love the '69 Z."thumbsup"

What glue did you use to glue the tires? They look nice and clean.

Oh the irony....lol.:lmao:

Funny you ask that...I used something called "no glue", lol.

That was my project for tonight, to glue all 3 sets...oh joy...Somehow that turned into taking pictures and updating this thread. I think i will save the glueing for another day, lol

I made the mistake of using tire glue on mine and it turned out kinda messy:roll:
I was hoping you had a trick.
Glueing is not my thing...usually wind up with tire bits on my fingers or worse, glued fingers. Lets see how that goes.

Wow love the classics man "thumbsup" Those things are clean!

Thanks!!! I try to keep them clean, keep wires nicely placed.but they wont stay on the shelf, they will be hitting the pavement soon. Red mustang was already going though some shake down runs in the street last Saturday. a brushless system will be a nice upgrade for it.

Had me a Glue-Fest last night. Glad i had acetone at hand. I glued 14 wheels(fell asleep on the last two) with one casualty.

A Front vintage style HPI tire and wheel was the casualty of glue carnage. The extra rubber lip on the outside of the tire is tricky. You have to be careful not to get glue in there before mounting tire or the two pieces will fuse and you'll have no way of getting the lip of the wheel in there. My mistake was applying glue to the wheel and then trying to get the tire on. It is easier to have the tire mounted, then pull rubber back and apply glue.

I have no clue if there is an easier way to glue tires and get them to look good. Some of the wheels have my skin stuck on them, lucky its on the inside of the wheel, lol.

The casualty - (lucky i had spare tires and wheels)

I glue my fingers daily.... I avoid super glue for that very reason...

Seriously....I really like the "Pepto Bismal" ride...you should re-name it Pepto

What motor are you running in that "slow" Mustang ???
As always Alex, your stuff is super clean....looking good sir "thumbsup"

LOL, i would avoid it as well but its one of those necessary evils you have to deal with. Just keep acetone readily available.

Thanks for the compliment Greg...You know me, i have to keep it clean and wires organized or the OCD kicks in.

i've always been a fan of funky colors...remember...i like DURAN DURAN AND WHAM!!!, lol. Im ready to order a plymouth Cuda body for pinky and paint that pink as well.

I can save the yellow challenger as a spare body. I also like Pepto Bismal...its that wintergreen bengay type taste...makes you crap black...makes your tongue black...but makes you feel good inside!!!

Like Baileys Irish Cream...without crap.

The motor in the Slo'stang is a brushed stock motor that came with the car..I believe its a stock motor but not sure how many turns. Im going to do a pinion change soon but i really want to get a brushless system for it. That's why i was picking your brain before about brushless onroad moto/esc combos.

Still havent decided on a system as im still concentrating on getting parts for like servos, receivers, receiver packs, & body clips for the rest of the fleet.

RC work is never done!

Boy isn't that the truth...been wrenching all day...clanker's scx10 truggy has some updates if your interested...

Body lotion seems to work well for the super glue blues...

UPDATE...UPDATE...UPDATE

A new body was painted to compliment the DS with the pink chassis "pinky".

I kept the old school muscle car theme...A pink Plymouth Hemi Cuda.

Some pics.

Doesn't that look good..."thumbsup"
What a great body .....nice job Alex. I like the gumdrops in the number....

Thanks Greg!

I like the yellow challenger body but once i used swapped chassis for the pink one i needed something different to compliment the pink chassis.

The numbers were funny. They were perfect for this;the blue "gumdrops" compliment the blue RPM parts.

The funny part is that they've been in my toolbox for ten years or so waiting for the perfect project, lol.

Im surprised they still stuck on, lol

Well this is the latest on the "Spare Parts" build...I had a junker tranny from another build. I decided to rebuilt it and mount onto this DS.

stainless steel hardware.

Junked the plastic diff and replaced with RRP aluminum gear. Pic is the junker...forgot to take pic of the aluminum...damn excitement!

Ok in my boredome i toyed around with some 1.9's on the DS "pinky"...

I mounted 1 HPI street rubber tire onto a Dick Cepek 1.9 Crawler wheel and slapped it on the front of the DS. The tire fit the wheel rather nice and the wheel is a beadlock so no more glue!

In a way they look nice...but they also look like the butt end of a soda can.
glass half full or glass half empty...cant decide....

Half empty....they look cheesy....just my O :)

Hey Greg...thanks for the honesty...that wheel is best suited for its intended purpose....on a crawler with a big fat tire!!! my kind of donut:mrgreen:

Had some 10yr shocks new in bag from my NTC3. build them up and mounted them to this ride. Springs are blue(14lbs) so they are pretty stiff with 30wt oil. i have the silvers on order which are less stiff.

IMG_2485_zps2f675774.jpg

waiting for body mounts & receiver battery pack.

Need to find and order complete engine mounts for the .18 OS engine im going to drop in. Pipe? not sure. maybe going with aluminum polished high RPM pipe, maybe blue paris turbo pipe...or the deep blue and slick associated blue torque pipe.

Need to install Traxxas receiver.

More pics to come....
