Hello everyone,

I am an Associated RC10GT fan. I still have my first RC10GT so it comes as no surprise that I recently got into the RC10NDS as it was derived from the GT. I managed to score a really clean and almost new DS (Thanks Jeff and Todd). I also scored one from Canada in an auction which is the one this thread is about.

I basically got the Canadian car as a back or "CAR FOR PARTS" to support the first near new DS. The junker was is good condition but needed some repair on the tranny. I happen to score a tranny at auction as a backup but then decided to give the "CAR FOR PARTS" some TLC and a new lease on life.

I was planning on keeping the cars all original but because getting a set of original tires without dry rot is nearly impossible i mounted a(now discontinued) Pro-Line item #6068-00 hub adapter kit.

The Beginning:

Now for some wheel base shortening. The DS has a spacer on the rear that allows you to shortened the wheel base by 5mm. I replaced the rear suspension mounts with a set of RPM Zero Degree mounts for the GT. It turns out that they reduced the wheel base by 5mm as well.

The DS tires are hard to find and there are no support tires so i decided to use Pro-Line's SC10 Front inboard hub adapter. This item is discontinued but im glad i had a spare. This allows me to use 26mm HPI wheels and modern day rubber.

The Canadian and American DS
The American DS has a stock associated exhaust

My current DS collection, 2 nitros and one electric.

Here is the body on the American DS with HPI vintage wheels. I think these look great together and as PaleBlue mentioned, the wheels are period correct with the body.

Now i have to work on a couple of more bodies for both the electric and nitro DS.

Let me know what you guys think.

I know nothing of Nitro terms....
but from a resto outlook...this looks great Alex...the upgrades you did are essential IMO...

Nice job "thumbsup""thumbsup"

Definitely need to keep the torque thrust wheels on the Camaro. Looks even better with those than the first picture I saw of it

Wow those all look great, you really do have an addiction :lmao:

Nah really? you think?, lol. I guess because they derive from the GT i fell into them. SO many parts are similar that it was easy to upgrade them with stuff ive had laying around.

They're looking good Lobo "thumbsup" Especially the camaro. A 15 is a fun motor for an rc10.

Thanks MEatwad, I like that body a lot. I think the .15 should be adequate and make for fun times. I had thought of dropping an OS .18 but then changed my mind. that would be overkill.

Thanks post, the hub adapters are the best upgrade next to the bearings. to be able to use modern day wheels and rubber was number one priority. The adapters allowed that to happen. The bearings where essential as well; now this car just loves to roll freely.

WOW! Those are outstanding! I'm glad you let me know about this thread."thumbsup"

Thanks! i remember you liked the GT thread...these are similar, lol

I would hate to run them now. that camaro looks too good to run.

Great restoration.

Thanks BK, They are coming along nicely. Im waiting for a receiver and some servos to arrive so i can finish the wiring and get her ready for engine break-in.

WE are on the same page. Paleblue said the same thing about the wheels. The body will now be mated to the chassis with the vintage wheels.

Sweet !!!!!!!
Thanks Pale...Keeping body on the DS with the Vintage wheels.

Dodge Challenger UPDATE (Canadian DS):

Challenger body has been painted. I still have to work on the rear spoiler and the trunk/rear headlight lexan piece. A New Era roll cage bar is on the way for it . All that it needs are the electronics. Its inching its way closer to "ready to run" status.

I would love to have kept the DS's original tires and wheels since they are really great looking but the fact that the tires are old, semi dry rotted and dont run true means they will only be good if the car stays on the shelf.

I tried running them at home on flat surface, The DS feels like a supermarket shopping cart with a bad wheel. You all know how we avoid those carts, lol. The distortion makes them wobble.

Most excellent photos as usual Alex... You really know how to show off the goods

Can we get a look at the rear of that Challenger ? Are you missing a bumper there ? Rig looks awesome...

Thanks Greg, Glad you like.

Now for the rear of the Challenger....uh, not finished yet, lol. I finished the body and left the rear for another day. The wife was around so i couldn't setup the paint-booth.

I sent you a pic via text since i do have a bumperless pic on my phone.

On another note...the Camaro is very close to hitting the streets...i used the receiver from the NTC3. Don't worry...i wrote the Mustang an IOU.

All i need is an on/off switch for the receiver and a fuel filter. oh nearly forgot.....i need to glue them tires....oh how i hate that part!

I'm in DS heaven. Well, I'm looking at DS heaven. You're actually in it. "thumbsup"

LOL, I guess you can say that, lol. I was lucky to start off with a really mint NDS. AS a support "parts car" i found got another which was in such good shape(needed some TLC and a few parts, lol) that it would have been a shame to keep as a "car for parts" and not resurrect it.

The electric DS is just to mess around. it runs nice but can run better. My plans are a Novak brushless system, an update to the wheels/tires via hub adapter, and a good radio with better adjustments for some smooth tailoring.

By the way...the Camaro is now ready for the streets!

If you want to sell the stock wheels and tires, I'd be interested! Pm me!
I might be interested if the adapter kit i purchased works. Will keep you in mind Phippy."thumbsup"

You should stick with a Tekin brushless system Alex...not sure about the Novak
Unless you have a Novak already...you're going to be overwhelmed when you start looking around...there's a lot to choose from.

Thanks Greg for the PM and the info on the Tekin. Im familiar with the Novak systems but im willing to expand my horizons with a different brand.

Here is the latest update on the Camaro. I managed to squeeze in an on/off switch, fuel filter, fail-safe, and a battery status bar indicator and kept it all fairly neat.

Thanks Romulus22 for the "heat shrink tube wire tip" it made keeping things neat fairly easy.

Here are some update pics.

Now that the Camaro is practically finished i can now continue with the Challenger as soon as some servos arrive in the mail.

In the mean time i started a restore job....an early version of a RC10GT(all white nylon parts and fiberglass towers). This was not an intended project but somehow just happened and im going with the flow to see what i end up with. Will post a thread about that soon.

too many car projects, not enough time, so whats new?

Hope you guys enjoy.

So I can't figure out what sits right under your tail pipe...
Nice and clean as usual Lobo..."thumbsup"

Oh damn sorry about that Post:shock:...i should have pointed that out...will take pic and add to the post but i'll spill the beans now...

under the exhaust pipe lays the Reedy 1600mha receiver pack."thumbsup"
