RC Rock Crawling Championship 2016 - Judges

I still say Rock Crawling Scoring is just like Golf Scoring
there is only one correct call...and if there is a question "you call for an official"
you can say people will cheat and your probably right...but it's hard to cheat with three guys watching you.
and if you cheat you are disqualified, if you make mistake you are penalized....usually 2x your mistake.
these a the simple rules, that govern very complicated rules (golf has much more complicated rules ... by far)
and golfers play for millions of dollars every Sunday
why do we have so many problems?

Still curious how this is going to work.
Who's button do I push? I seem to recall huge pressure to come up with plenty of judges and not do group format here in AZ. Are you guys giving in or do you still need help?

I think traditional judging is dead. I still think its the best way to do it but after lots and lots of thinking and then my experience at NENC, we are changing directions.

Why either have the same ole people step up and burn themselves out or the other option is to force people to judge all day, make them angry. Either way, youre going to end up losing people in this hobby so I think its obvious something needs to change.

I saw NENC run its version of the rotational judges and I think it worked pretty good. They had 2 judges on course judging the same person. I think having 2 judges watch 1 guy worked pretty good and took a lot of error out of the equation.

So, we are planning to do the same sort of deal in this comp. We dont and probably wont have all the details figured out until the comp gets closer, maybe even the day of.

I want to post this up though so everybody who signs up will be prepared to judge. If you get out of the comp without judging, it will be MUCH more unlikely than if you do. Almost everybody will end up judging. If you run all 3 classes, there is a chance you will judge all 3 classes.

The major upside to this is that it will only be 1-2 hours, not all day.

Hopefully everybody can see that this is the most fair way to do it. Nobody is being picked on and everybody is being asked to pull their fair weight.

If youre worried about how to judge, your math or the rules etc,. dont be. If you are relatively new or inexperienced, you will be paired with an experienced person so you can learn how to judge and hopefully you will feel more comfortable doing so and can practice at comps when you get home and help out there too.
