Rant Thread

that's the shit that pisses me off... we are out here in the world working hard as hell to just squeak by and barely have any left over for the real hobbies after food and bills. when everybody else on welfare and spending all their taxes on 30 inch rims for donks or a bangin new sound system (not nockin the hobby) or even wasting the money on drugs and not buyin the kids clothes..

I cant wait till I reach my wage cap.. my kids will be smart, and will know how to live right.

BCBS charged me for a freakin $400 dollar bill for some ultra sound.. like wtf.. that was almost 2 years ago. I ended up having fluid outside of my lungs in some membrane or something. its like you cant breathe or pick up anything over 5 pounds. sucked for about 3 days.

You guys will love this. I may have mentioned this on the site before. I was born with a condition and now I have to take life sustaining meds for the rest of my life. Life sustaining meaning if I miss just a few doses it can start a chain reaction of events that can kill me.

Anyway, after graduating college and being in the working world and contributing to society by paying taxes I got laid off in a bad economy. I was paying for Cobra insurance and paying for my meds. I couldn't find a job and my Cobra was about to run out. I couldn't afford my meds on my own. One pill was $50 and I was taking 6 of those each day at that time. That didn't include the cost of the two others. Do you think the government would help me? **** no.

My doctor got on the phone with me to call the drug manufacturers to apply for their programs for people that can't afford life sustaining meds. I was denied by all of them. I made too much money on unemployment. The doctor reiterated that they were life sustaining meds and that I couldn't survive without them. They said they were sorry, but I didn't qualify. Nice, huh? Thankfully I found a job just within weeks after that and before my insurance ran out. The "fun" part is there's no guarantee I won't face that situation in the future.

Often working hard doesn't pay. If I had gotten my doctor to deem me disabled and I was leeching off of the system I would have had plenty of meds at all times and I'd have no worries about the future.

But hey, screw me. Let's support refugees instead of people, like me, that contribute to society.

At this point I have called 5-6 times and now left 3 messages to call me since Thursday and see what was going on and have yet to hear from him.

I get adjusters like that from time to time. Won't reply to emails or phone calls, but then show up unexpectedly and complaining that we weren't prepared for them.

I swear there are times I feel like the harder I work, the worse things get. Meanwhile I watch ex friends and family members get high, play video games all day, and we pay for it and they just breeze through life without a care in the world.

Often working hard doesn't pay.

Life isn't fair, and wasting time and energy worrying about the slackers won't make it any more so.

I find it interesting that instead of being upset about the unreasonable cost of healthcare and prescription drugs that you’re subjected to, you’re instead taking out your frustration on those that have less than you. Big pharma has some of the highest profit margins in the world.

I've been trying to play intermediary right to keep just that from happening to the dealership since I want to keep a good working relationship with then since my 200 is one of 3 cars we've bought from them and where most of the service work is done on those three, plus I've bought some of my XJ specific parts there.
It gets better now, I finally heard from the appraiser that came here 5 days after the crash for the body damage estimate with a message that now the car is at the dealership it is out of territory and there will be a new appraiser dealing with the car. Of course, he calls when I was between lunch when I made my last post here and my final break of the day...........wish we had that smiley of that one that's smacking it's head on a brick wall, I could really use that one right now.......................

It's funny you said that. If memory serves me correctly you started this thread complaining about something that was unfair! :lmao:

I don't worry about it. I wish there would be changes made to stop slackers from leeching off of us, the hard working, tax paying people of the world, but I don't go through my life worrying about it. I wouldn't have even mentioned it except it applied to the last couple of posts on this thread and, you know, it's a rant thread after all. People in my life, outside of family and close friends and I guess some strangers on the internet, don't even know about my health issue. I don't use it as a crutch or blame any of my problems on it. It has made me experience some of the unfairness of the world in ways that most people haven't.

I never said I wasn't unhappy with the cost of healthcare or prescription drugs. I'm not sure how to fix that.

I will say that I have no problem with companies making money off of things - even meds. Capitalism works. Without the appeal of making money off of the drugs the pharma companies probably wouldn't have developed said drugs that sustain my life.

That's rough jato. I hope you never meet that situation again.

Thank you, sir! "thumbsup" All I can do is try to ensure I'm in a better financial situation if and when that ever arises again.

There is so much wrong with that line of thought, I don't even know where to start...

That'd just be your OPINION that it's wrong. Like it or not, money makes this world go 'round and nobody is doing anything for free or for the greater good of mankind.

I know a couple of people that damn near have a stroke worrying themselves with what other people are doing. Life is too short to be that angry about something that you have no control over. I just wanted to make sure you guys weren't in that group.

At times I "worry" about things like that and it pisses me off as I'm sure you can sometimes tell by my responses to posts on this site. But typically I'm more carefree than that. My girlfriend gives me crap for being so carefree since she's a worry wart. Early on in life I realized that at the end of the day we aren't in control of our health. Some people live a very healthy lifestyle and die young. Others drink and smoke and live to be 100. Life is a gamble. Play the game and have fun while you still got a turn.

Im not in that group. I dont even yell to be honest.

Im pretty laid back in person. At work.. Its a little different at times.

The guy i work with.. Literally worries himself sick. Alsways talking down on the doctors saying its thier fault he is sick and blah blah blah.. When in fact.. He is just stressing way to much about it and that is whats probably making it worse. I feel bad for the guy, but he has got to get off this depression kick.

I tell my wife 50% of her high blood pressure is because of this exact thing.

My wife worries about EVERYTHING, the other night here in PA we had those high winds for nearly 24 hours, she laid up listening to the wind worrying about what was going to happen, I was sleeping in five minutes and slept all night. She asked me the next day how I do it lol, I said I was tired and it was time to go sleep and I don't worry about what I can't control. I just hoped for the best and went to sleep, woke up in the morning and all was good lol.

Thanks Mike"thumbsup"

Guess things are improving, got a voicemail from my dealership that this new appraiser was there this morning, looked it over, approved the repairs, and the parts were on order by all by 11am. He thinks the mechanical could be done b y Friday8)

Then I just need to worry about getting the body damage fixed, just may have them send it to the Ford dealer that handles their body work so it's the same appraiser if it runs more that the first appraiser's $1200 estimate.

Already got my Federal refund so I may see how much extra it would cost to take care of that ding in the back door fixed as well as the gas door (hinge went bad and gouged the quarter panel paint) and some minor damage from when my Sister backed her old '06 Charger into is back in 2013 and use the refund to fix those areas since they're all on the same side.

People can be such JERKS during a time of disaster!!!!
Our little town is in the national news because of a weather situation that has paralyzed Oakridge (Oregon). We are right at the base of the Cascade Mountains 35 miles east of Eugene. Our town has one highway in and out and it is blocked with over 200 fallen tree that were over weighted with over two feet of wet snow that fell Sunday!!! The fallen trees are not only blocking the road, but has taken out all power to our area. Power to the stores is off so they are only open for a limited time and dealing with cash only. Gas stations can't pump gas so for those that haven't seen the warnings of preparing yourself for a situation like this, there is no gas to be had for generators. Marcia and I are of those that heeded that warning and are cozy in our Covered Wagon that we used for our cross country trip earlier this year.

We are told that power could be off for a week and the road is now open to emergency traffic only because trees are still coming down. And they have to be escorted at that. Red Cross is supposed to be able to make it to town some time this evening.

Now to my RANT, Odot and Lane electric have been working around the clock with little sleep since Sunday and I cannot believe the crap they are getting from some of the local people about their "slow service and don't they know we are without power", and food, and so on and so on. I know at times like this tempers are short and people are cranky but please give these professionals a break and get off their backs. And just remember their families are in the same situation as the rest of us. GRRRRRRRRRRR. I must say, for the most part people are working together to make sure the community members are safe, warm and fed. But there are those few...who think it is all about THEM!

Well said, Ernie. Those utility workers are working hard.
I'm about 20 miles west of Eugene and consider myself lucky, having only lost power for a day; no trees down where I can't handle them, so far. Neighbors a mile away still don't have power. Good luck to you and yours.

Eh I wouldn't sweat that. Do you know how much linemen are getting paid with the overtime?! They love the overtime because it pads their six figure salaries.
