The R.E.C.O.N. G6 Challenge “Tufa Trials” is what some G6’ers will call the G6 of a life time. This G6 is going to take place at one of the most spiritual places that I’ve ever been to, Pyramid Lake, Nevada. There is 125 miles of shore line, some of the most unique rock formations you’ll ever see, and to experience a location that has provided life to a group of people for over 9000 years, may just enrich your soul.
The G6 Crew will be boarding the G-Train and heading out for a tour of the West. The first stop will be Long Beach, Washington. This is an awesome location with some of the best r/c enthusiasts in the country. We can’t wait to spend time with the gang from W.P.P.R.C.A., the most active RECON Crawler Chapter Club, period, (can I get an AMEN)!
Then the G-Train will be making a stop at the Axial MSD Scale Nationals. The G6 Crew is honored to bring the G6 Challenge to Montana and to pop the G6 cherries of some of the best scale drivers in the country. Oh my!
The G-Train will light the lipos once again after this awesome venue and head south to Arizona where N.A.R.C.C.A., another one of RECON Crawlers Chapter Clubs, has invited us down to bring them some G-Love. The G6 Crew is really anxious to put rubber to rock in AZ.
This is important info for all G6 drivers because the G6 “Tufa Trials” will be the last local G6 Challenge until the 2011 Axial Scale Challenge, which takes place at the 2011 Axial West Coast Championships on June 24th, 25th, and 26th. This is an event for everyone. Bring the off road toys to tour the scenic Sierra Nevada mountains or enjoy hiking, fishing, biking, or geocaching. This is the premier r/c crawling event in the West and it just keeps getting better!
RECON G6 Challenge “Tufa Trials” pertinent information:
Time: 0900hrs Drivers meeting / National Anthem / Start Alley roars to life
Where: Pyramid Lake, NV (location TBA 12 hrs prior to the event)
When: May 7th, 2011
Fees: Pyramid Lake camping / day use fees required. Camping is $9.00 and day use is $6.00. Standard G-Fee applies.
We will be camping out Friday and Saturday night. There is room for RV’s but no hook ups. Camping is primitive with restrooms.
Stages: 5 Stages. Two sub stages, (50 trail markers) and 1 main stage, (100 +/- trail markers) and the first ever two G6 night stages.
Requirements:
- Tow Strap, (This is mandatory and will be used throughout the day and night).
- Spare tire, (this is not needed, but highly recommended!!! [hint, hint]).
- 10 scale items, (yes, 10! Be creative, some small 1” long by 1/8” diameter sticks can be bundled together with saran wrap and called “firewood”. After all, we are camping).
- Lights, (your scaler is unlimited! Rock lights, light bars, fog lights, ect. Any color you want, just make your lights “scale” in appearance. I don’t care on the lumens; 8 to the sun, light up the night! Your persons are limited to ONE headlamp per driver. No filters, unless you prefer them. Your controller may have ONE light source, again, no filters needed. There are several mods for this and I like the light mounted under the base the best).
- Mandatory Skill Sections, (of course, some of them will require no “person” lights and some will pay respect to the lake).
The day stages will be ran and then we will break for dinner. This G6 is will feature a “pot luck” dinner of sorts, the RECON G6 Crew will provide the bbq soy chicken while other drivers are free to bring a side dish of their choice, (see registration for details).
To say that I’m jonesing for this G6 would be a lie; I’m full on having G6 withdrawals! I cannot express how much fun a G6 Challenge is to drive, host, and look forward to.
