Prozak's Bitcoin GOM build

I funded this with some of my Bitcoin profits, so the theme will be Bitcoin, I'm up in the air on the wrap, but we will see. Down to business. I was actually going to build a TF2 and already had a body, but I saw a NIB GOM for 235$ on ebay I could not pass up.

Hmmm.... how to incorporate the volatility of Bitcoin into the paint job? flames? bar graph? Hazmat tag?

Ebay is also to blame for my Gom purchase, I had overlooked Ebay as a source for quite a few years but theres deals to be had for sure.

Quick update before bed. While going through things I found a bag of aluminum ball ends that were not mentioned in the instructions. So I built all my links with plastic ones per instructions but after i found the aluminum ones i swapped them all out. For anyone building in the future save your self some work. See if your kit has the aluminum ones first.

Flames about sums it up! Lucky for me I bought in the hundreds so it’s all gravy. But yeah it’s crazy the past 6-8 mos

The metal ball ends were touted as a limited time upgrade given away with the first batch of kits made. I'm wondering if it's just a regularly included item in all GOM's now.
 
You used the Low Pressure Setup or the High Pressure Setup?



I followed the high pressure process but depending on where you put the piston when you screw them together dictates the pressure. Mine are pretty low pressure. I’m just used to building shocks this way. The low pressure way seems upside down to me. If that makes any sense.

Quick little wrap design. I’m sure this will change but I threw this together just to get an idea. Now that i have all my layers cut I can change designs easily.

Got a few more steps done tonight. Installed the shift linkage, married the motor and trans to the chassis, installed steering servo, battery tray, left side rail, front bumper and hood cage. Starting to look like something. The servo I had for shifting (Tower Pro), the tabs were too thick for the kit spacers so I had to cut them to make them work but all is good and lined up now. As for the motor and RX case, I had to unbolt the motor and clock it a bit to make it clear the RX case. Hopefully all the motor wires clear everything as the rest comes together. I saw some people had to cut the RX case piece, I am trying to avoid that. but so far so good.

Tonight’s few steps. Slapped the axles on and shocks. The front axle is not complete because I’m waiting for the CVA shafts to show up along with the brass bushings. But if they won’t be here for weeks I may build it as is.

Nothing too major accomplished tonight but a few things that took time. Needed to adjust the slipper clutch so that took some disassembling. Bolted the wheels together. Decided to finish the front axle now and rebuild it when the CVA shafts come. Built the steering links. Hopefully I’ll have this rolling in the next week.

Buttoned up the steering linkage, programmed the ESC, installed RX and bound the radio. Put the wheels on and tested the shifter servo and slipper clutch. Adjusted end points and trim for both Servos. Next will be cutting and painting interior then wrapping the panels. Have to do the interior before the rest of the cage so that’s up next. I like how much weight is up front. This seems like it will do fairly well crawling.

Interior was up next. Painted and put the seats in, steering wheel and dash sticker. Cut out the hood and made all the holes. After that came the cage. Now it’s really starting to look like a vehicle. Can’t get to the vinyl printer till early next week but that should be an easy wrap with mostly flat panels.

Here’s the final truck for now. Got the wrap printed. I have to redo 1 panel though i didn’t have it flipped right. Next time I’ll do it a little different but it came out good IMO. :). I like it.
