Proline giant trac Tires info

I've been in contact with Proline and they said they could make me an order of Giant trac tires but there's a catch, isn't there always. Here's the catch and I quote:
"They said it would take a 4000pc order to bring it back.. "
So Anyone know a hobby shop or store that's interested in flippin the bill to become the exclusive dealer of proline giant trac tires? If so I can hook them up with my contact. PM me if you know of anyone.

Thats not that bad. If I had that kind of cash I would order it, but change the design a little.
I once talked to Horizon Hobbies about ordering wholesale, they said they could but needed X-info and a first time order of $20K. (or $25K?)

This is the time when the crawling community needs to start yacking at Panther Tires. See if they'd jump into the crawling game. They make good tires for racing rigs.


Look at the size of RC Crawling... It's still VERY small. This, "bring back the Giant-Trac" was so 2003 :mrgreen:

WTF... Who would want that? Clod wheels suck. That mounting system is very outdated, probably why no one makes a Clod wheel except Tamiya :mrgreen:

HPI and Losi have potential to make a larger Masher/Moab sized 2.2 as well.

I would like to see a 2.2 LST Claw tire or 2.2 Zombie tire.

and HPI I'm sure can make something spectacular. Just need to work on the compound a little.

Proline can keep their Giant Tracs. I think Moabs are a far better tire.

moabs are a good tire BUT they are to tall. if proline would make a tire like the size of a gaint trac tire. with the moab tacky tread that would be the best tire out there.

If Giant trac tires are so bad why do people still run them.
Ever read a bad review of the tire.
For a large scale crawler, these seem to be the most sought after.
I know I always liked them, hence the reason I asked about it.
If you guys aren't interested that's cool.

At the time the tire was released it wasn't a big seller because of what was popular at the time, but with all the monster truck madness that's going on it would sell now. My contact at proline also stated this but because of how long it was out before with out being a huge seller, and with the popularity of it's other tires, it's hard to justify a rerelease. But they told me if a rerelease was done, that their clod would be wearing some. If I find a product that I like I make every effort to keep it on the shelf, I made inquiry and told you guys what it would take to get em, noones interested, no biggie. Just thought I'd ask since alot of people still run them. Tis cool

Realize the GT was in it's prime long before crawling ever became a fad.

And realize not everyone needs all that tire height cause they can drive and not just cruise over a pile of rocks with their uber ground clearance. Smaller tires lower the CG, too. There's a reason TLTs are popular, other than the fact they're cheap. Small tires make stuff fun!

Well I try!;-) Just offering my opinion. I understand that the GT was (and in some instances still is) a great tire. I too an building a TLT in hopes that it increases my driving skills (lord knows I could use it) and my ability to read the terrain better and not just "cruise over it". My point was that with all the tires that we have available to us TODAY, we don't really need the GT to be re released. That's not to say that if I came across a set I wouldn't pick them up to try them out. Hopefully when I get my TLT up and running I will be asking the questions and getting as much feedback as I offer. Don't mean to offend anyone w/ my opinion, just express my POV on the matter.

I just got a set of GT off ebay so i'm good to go.

BTW...I have been looking for a set GT for a long long time and no luck i have a feeling that i can find an old set at my LHS stuff sells very slow there as most people around my area are into buggies and rc-18's not to mention planes people are BIG into planes around here
