Hey! I've been wanting to make a build thread for a while and i thought why not make one for my wraith project!?! It started out as a kit and I've already built it to a roller, but I wanted to stand out from the others with some somewhat minor mods. OOC is the name I gave it after all the time its been sitting on the shelf not being worked on... It stand for "Out of Commision" aranoid: At the moment Its got the following electronics inside...
-Axial AE-2 ESC
-Traxxas 2075 Waterproof servo
-Reedy Radon 17t Brushed Motor
-Didn't have a 2s Lipo
I ended up just buying more electronics because I wanted something better than the AE-2 and the 2075. I wanted something with more oz. torque and a nicer ESC with more features that could handle up to 6S BATTERIES!!! :Wow1:
I tried to do the hinge mod with cable clamps for my front hood but it didn't really work out so well... I ended up ruining my hood while trying to ease the stress on the cable clamps... I guess it was meant to be though because now I'm getting something that I think is better. I've got a Dinky RC hood on its way as we speak along with a few other things
-Dinky RC V3 hood
-Dinky RC "Dropbox"
-Dinky RC Fuel Cell
-Some Dinky RC Stickers while I was at it
-Holmes Hobbies Torque Master BR-XL
The new hood will be held on by 4 powerful earth magnets so that there aren't any holes in the new hood for an easier, more scale appearance.
For mounting my electronics, I'm making a custom mount to mount my Radio box, battery, AND my ESC all up front! I'm really excited to make the mount because it will be my first real custom thing! It will be make out of a sheet of aluminum... I'll post Pics of the mount once I make it and before its mounted...
Here's some pictures of some photos during the build, up to where I am now...
A cheap shock building stand made out of an old ice-cream container...
This is how I screwed my hood up. I thought the curve from the hood was adding to much tension which resulted in the cable clamps breaking... It turns out the clamps were too small, so just for scale looks and Ease I've got some powerful earth magnets to keep the hood down.
Under the hood... I'm making a custom mount as already mentioned to move the Radio Box forward and have the ESC mounted behind it. The battery will still go where it is now but will have more wiggle room.
This is how it sits at the moment. I'm waiting for my shipments to come in so I can install it all but I'll probably make the aluminum mount tomorrow.
