Tiny little update: I had been running the HR 60 tooth aluminum spur since I built the rig, but I kept having to replace it every several weeks because it was just barely large enough to catch the pinion. Finally got tired of it and decided to try a 62 tooth spur (part # MRC862H). It is just enough larger to mesh perfectly and not have to worry about replacing it so often. It also works great with the Crawler Mafia motor and gives me just a bit more off-the-line punch. "thumbsup"

On a side note, my drought is finally over. After losing the last 2 comps, I finally won again yesterday. :mrgreen:

You're absolutely right, but I have never run the plastic gears simply because I don't trust them. Part of the reason this rig has done so well for me is because I have done everything possible to make it bullet-proof. I know that when I get in a bind I can power out and not have to worry about breaking anything. For me the tiny amount of weight lost with the plastic spur is not worth the much larger loss in confidence.

I hear you on durability. I actually had bad luck with a hr center locker. I now have mip shafts, lcc front axles and cvd's, and rear ax10 axles to try and be bomb proof. I'm ok with a plastic spur as I have not broken one yet but at least a spur is easy to get to, and I'm alright with one failure spot like that.

Well it's been a couple of months since my last update, and I really don't have much to add. We had our last comp of the season and the little rig wrapped up the 1st place season points trophy.
I can honestly say that I am happier with this rig than any RC vehickle I've ever owned, and since I've been in and out of RC since the late 70's, that's saying a lot. Don's chassis really brought this little guy to life, and the Motoworx wheels not only look great but have held up perfectly. The LCC mod put an end to my broken CVDs. I drive this rig hard, and it's really nice knowing that I don't have to worry about anything breaking on it. At this point, I can't think of a single thing that needs to be done to further improve either it's performance or durability (other than having a better driver :mrgreen.

how much are the MIP?

The MIP driveshafts usually go for around $30 for the set (front and rear).

I never received the cf panels from Don, and at this point I have pretty much given up on them...
I don't plan to do a new 1.9 build for next season since the rig performs as well as I can hope for now. I will tear it down and check everything internally and clean/re-grease, etc, but unless something really cool comes along, I see no reason to change anything. It's pretty much bullet-proof now, so I think it will be fine as is.
I will be busy this winter building a new 2.2S rig and helping my son build his. We also have his XR10 to finish building, and hopefully I can get my Bully build back on track once I get my links. I'll start a new thread in a few weeks for my 2.2S; I've collected most of the parts now, and am just waiting for the chassis and wheels. I talked to Don and he suggested some custom touches that should be pretty sweet.

I had no idea this sport was this intuitive, this is exactly what I have been looking for! I am really looking forward to getting into my build.

That's what I enjoy about it also. It's what separates the toy RCs from the comp rigs. There's always some little something to work on or figure out; it just never gets boring. Welcome to the hobby and the forum!

So the 1.9 class is still alive and thriving in Springfield, MO! We had our first indoor winter comp of the season Sunday, and had 10 drivers show up to do work. I've added several rocks to the garage pile over the last few months, and it's developed into a pretty nice little area. We let the new guys set the courses for this comp, and I gotta tell ya, they were TOUGH! We always have a blast at the winter series, and this year is no different. LONG LIVE THE MINIS!!! "thumbsup"
