Panthers new Tires

I was lucky enough to bolt on a set of the new panther tires to my HBZ rig at RCX. The tires worked very well on the RCX course, I wouldn't say they had way more traction then any other tire out as they had the same difficulty crawling up the arch as all the other tires did. Compared to the set of brand new Rock Claws I was using on my rig, I did not see a big difference in traction or side hilling.

The tire compound was soft and sticky and needs a stiffer foam to support the softer sidewalls. Overall I think Panther did a nice job on the new tire considering this is there first crawling tire, it is very promising to see a new tire perform on the levels of a Losi Rock Claw. The only think I didn't like about the tires was the tread design, while it's not a bad design at all, I would have liked to see a more unique tread design then what was used.

The tires mounted were 2" wide and just under 5" tall, slightly taller then the Losi Rock Claws mounted on the same rims.

The set that were at RCX had Panther foams. I think this is the same set.

The engineer I spoke to said he was thinking about making a 2 stage foam to support the sidewalls more.

Sweet tires, I use panthers on my bandit buggy always good quality.

P.S. I think it would be cool to see comp tires in other colors, hell they do it on real cars now.

HAHAHAHA good idea, only problem is that when you introduce color to the rubber, the characteristics change dramatically.... for the worse.

I tried them too and found the exact same thing. However, there were a couple of lines these tires did not make that my claws did. I agree with Badger they should have tried a different tread design. A good tire none the less.

That reaffirms what my findings were in my first post, the clay is about on par with the Losi tire, I'm not saying the Losi is a bad tire, infact it works well, but the other 2 compounds did infact have more grip.

I am not sponsored by anyone. I've paid for every set of tires I have.

I would have compared the Panthers to Prolines tires as well, I just did not have time.

I believe that the Clay compound will work better when it is much warmer out and/or when the rocks are wet.

Time will tell.

I just gave you an unbiased opinion, so did Badger, who is unsponsored. Funny how we both tried these and found the exact same thing.
