OutRunner brushless motors?

John, the Mamba only resets itself when you reset it. It holds its programming until you reprogram. But if you program a Mamba for me using a heli TX, and I use it with a TQ3, there are going to be some issues. The Mamba wants to know where the center and end points are before you do anything else with the programming.

We are on page 19!

Since I program with the usb, I would assume it wont matter since the first tx the Mamba sees will be the customers. I know the mamba auto-detects endpoints and such. I have never had a problem switching from a stick radio to a 2/3 throttle pistol come to think of it. The controller just reset the endpoints I guess.

I wont have to worry though, I havent used a pistol grip on a long time.

An aside story- I have a 4wd tamiya rc boy kit. It has no suspension, and takes stampede rims. I have a little outrunner shoehorned in for general bashing duties and long *** runtimes. It is geared pretty high so it is still quick on 6 cells. Anyway, I origionally used the OG mamba controller in the ride. It did well but didnt like to have tires wedged- it would cog a bit. I figured it was just high gearing with a small motor. After replacing the ESC I was proven wrong! The updated Mamba starts the motor right up whether the tires are ready or not! Long story short, the drivetrain got creamed (and the gears are wider than clod gears) because I have bushings instead of bearings and no slipper clutch.
Moral of the story- bushings, torque, and lack of slipper spell doom for even the fattest of gears!

If the Mamba auto-detects endpoints, then what's the point (ha ha) of setting up the speedo with the throttle and brake points in the first place? I always thought that was to tell the speedo where the endpoints were. If the little bastard can auto-detect, then it's one smart cookie, and that step can be eliminated.

So I should be cool w/ my setup right? :? It arrived yesterday and I'm going to install it this afternoon. Can't believe how small and light this setup is! Thanks again Johnrob!

I got prelim testing done on the quark controllers in this thread http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32485

I called up Castle to report the differences, and Bernie suggested trying LOWEST startup power and timing advance to slow down the initial crawl of the motor. I forgot my castle link or I would do it now. The Quark controllers are definatly usable though, very smooth and much quieter.

Picked up some motors from JRH this weekend.

This thing will be a powerhouse.

This will be the next mod to the Corporal! Duel outrunners! Are you using a single ESC or are you use a set? Would love to see your set up!

JRH, what's your take on the Revolver Vs. Axi 2212/26? My AXI is still un-mounted and I'm debating on returning it and getting a Revolver. I was planning on running either a 6-cell 2/3A pack or a 3s lipo.
