Opinions on Vp cvd's ?

Ok,so I got my vvd's for my scx10, got the old axial uni's out, slid these in, went to put in my king pin screws and there is a slight problem. Once the upper and lower screws are in, the steering is supper stiff. I have highland locker axial overdrive gears in the front, axial high steer knuckles and axial c's. So I pulled off The c's and still had the driveshafts in the knuckles attached to the c's and the binding went away. From what I was able to see, the shaft is a little too long so when the whole thing is assembled it shoved the vvd into the knuckle. I trimmed the slope area that goes into the locker to see if it helped allow the shaft to slide a little farther into the locker, helped a little but not much.. any ideas ? Maybe I should shave off a little off the end of The shaft because maybe both vvds are hitting eachother in the locker? Please pm me with any ideas. Thanks.

Take the locker out then assemble and see if the shafts are touching in the middle before everything is tightened down. If so, just shave a little off and proceed. If they are not touching its probably the highland locker. They never did center the shafts well and when you install the higher quality/higher tolerance shafts, you will get binding. That's what happened in my case and solved it by getting the VP lockers.

I had the same issue Friday night, in my case it seemed I had drilled the beef tube I just made a little off and it wasn't letting the bearing seat deep enough. A little dremel work on the end and I steered smooth. Bad bearings can also cause this, MIP axles were tight fitting and would bind if the bearings weren't perfect. Axial's CVD's were a pretty sloppy fit in everything could mask a ton of issues.

Now much for a new stub and pin for ax-10 or are they warranteed?

Good idea! Now I just need the pin size. Can one be found at the Lhs?

I can't tell if that's sarcasm lol, take the pin from the other side in to wvh and see if tmoney can find a replacement? Till you can get the right parts from vp? Or try and find the correct size in piano wire and make new pins?

LHS = local hobby shop. I know I could probably find one there but if someone knows the exact size it would save me some time.

Cool thanks man. Hey vanquish it says on your website that the cvd's have a Full selection of rebuild parts available. Where are the prices and selections? Maybe I'll just give ya a call. "thumbsup"

I have abused my wraith vvd's, and the cross pin is getting sloppy, but they have lasted better than others I have run. But I'm expecting the same result soon.

Honesty its bullshit, Tuner hasn't gotten a response from vp... So I doubt they are gonna do a damn thing about these breaking....

When has VP ever not made something right when there has been an issue. I know a couple of the guys are out of town for the week. Wait till you get an answer yea or no before you get so upset. I know it's frustrating to have a part fail and I'm not saying you don't have the right to be upset. Just direct it positively.

Yeah, i would just relax. VP are good people and Im sure They will make it right.
Im curious as to what knuckles, chubs, if your running tubes.
There are all kinds of varibles as to how this happened and parts will fail if there is a chink in the chain.

Problem with going fast is more parts break.

I have to say I was running a 4s lipo and a 13.5 jumping on slick rock when this happened and I have ran several races with these and abused them allot. I did however switch to just wd-40 instead of grease to lube and clean these after every race. I dont know if that has anything to do with it. I am very happy with these and I would buy another set if it came down to it. Compare these to the price of super 300's and and the strength of these to 300's these are defiantly worth it. I did end up fixing it though by drilling a new hole in the stub and making a pin.
