Old Dudes

Comfortable chairs? That's better than sex at my age! ... and far more accessible.

Mind = 25 yrs
Body = 70 yrs
Actual = 58 yrs ( which I'm afraid classifies me as "old".)
Good chairs are dandy, but nothin beats good sex. Just easier to find the chairs. lmmfao

Im about the same on the rest.
though for the most part, besides my neck and back from 35 years of head banging while playing metal on the bass didn't help
Still 25ish mind,
maybe feeling in my 50s for some of my body. some in the 60s. most in the 30s yet.

Also 58. hit 59 in August.

I remember going to shows and throwing my head around ( full head of hair too lol!)... Van Halen, Metallica ( x2), King Diamond, Scorpions, Flotsam & Jetsam, Primus, etc, etc. I also remember those days after where my neck/ shoulders/ back hurt like crazy lol. I still play guitar almost every day but I keep my head still!

The hard part about having a young mind is that the common sense part is forced to take control so that I can keep myself out of the ER lol.

You know, a couple years ago I forgot my age and thought I was a year older than I actually was. By the time I did the math I felt as if I had gained a year for free... smh. Maybe I'll forget again and get two free years!

I didn't start feeling old until I threw my back out taking a nap...
(nope, not kidding)
It amazes me how when I was young I could brush off a twisted muscle or joint. Now when something like that happens I can feel the full brunt of it for days.. Sometimes takes a week or more to fully recover from something that in my younger days I wouldn't even had remembered happening just a day or two later.

I'll be 60 this year. Started doing a few exercises and stretches in the morning. It's helping as my plan is the get back on the mountain bike. Why does work seem to get in the way of life? Routes will be cut this April. Great I can do other things besides work and so I can have a life again.
My girls laughed at me I can't bend over and touch my toes. I'm working on that. I've hurt the lower back twice. As you get older it just takes more time to recover.

I'm a unique grumpy old bastid. lol

I still weigh my 10th grade wrestling weight.
Only take a couple aspirin in the am for my arthritis and to help keep the blood liquidy and flowing.
Still on the see food diet I was at 18.
I've been smoking most my life so get winded fast. Too fast over the last 5 years. need to quit again soon.
Other than work, which isn't strenuous but not like driving a desk full time either I haven't 'worked out' or exercised, but for a while in my career, I climbed towers installing HSD equipment and did a fair bit of physical work, roofing, drywalling, construction etc.
Still fairly limber also, though my back and neck are much worse today. But 35 plus years of playing metal and head banging has its downsides. heh.

I can still kick about head high and put my hands flat on the floor which most people can't do in their teens and men generally cant do. But I have a shitload more pinched nerves going on, so keeping loose and limber is key to keeping my nerves from rolling between the verts, though it don't stop it from happening and That is when I remember Im too old for that shit anymore. lol
Cant ride the Harley. Sitting in the saddle has my legs numb in 20 minutes.
Time to sell it and pick up a 125/250 RM or YZ from the mid 80s to 90s.
As long as I can move my position from standing to sitting to knee on the seat etc I can ride. But just setting in the saddle not gonna work anymore.

I felt like this was a cool rundown that I could use for a comparison...

I'd definitely say I'm unique.. so would just about everyone else that has ever been close to me. But I always have been, I guess. And that sure doesn't mean that all that uniqueness is/ has been a good thing lol. But whatever.. will maybe make the memory of me more memorable to some.

I wrestled and lifted in HS but I was pretty damned lean and definitely strong... leg pressed 550 lbs regularly and even full-stacked the universal several times. Unfortunately I was sort of a dick though and not very respectful of the opposite sex. I regret a lot of that but I did become a pretty decent person as an adult... just wish it hadn't taken so long and caused so much loss. Can't change the past though... just have to do better moving fwd.

I never used to take aspirin but I do now when I get a sprain or arthritic flare up. Always taken vitamins as long as I can remember... used to take GNC Mega Man religiously.. now I take off-brand 'mens over 50' vitamins.

I still eat most of what I used to but I'm careful with the grease and some other things that might send me to the jon in a hurry. Sure as hell never used to be like that and I do miss a lot of what I used to be able to eat.

Also been a smoker most my adult life although I have fortunately been able to dial that back some over the past several years... less than a pack a day. Still horrible in all regards ( and my wife absolutely HATES the smell and what she knows it's doing to me) but man... it's such a hard habit to break.

I used to be insanely active.. kayaking, mtn biking, camping, off-roading, fishing, automotive stuff, and all that but man that sedentary life kicked in around 45-50 yrs old and now a lot of my energy goes into upkeep of the house and property. I still do landscaping like nobody's business but I've given up a ton of what I used to love.

Never been able to kick high but I was always fairly limber and able-bodied... can barely do any of that kind of thing now without pulling something lol.

I've also got some diabetic/ blood flow/ poor circulation issues that leave me restless and unable to sit/ stand for very long before feeling the tingling in my extremities.

And I recently posted this in "the geezer" thread on a guitar forum that I'm on...

"Man... I see a tiny little something on the floor and f**k me... I go into full-blown "identify and retrieve" mode that must look like a bloated geriatric giraffe on muscle relaxers going down for that last blade of grass... complete with a facial expression like I may never come back up again... accompanied by that groaning/ exhaling noise like "Extend the outriggers, boys! This is it!". smh"

It's hell gettin' old, kids. Don't let it happen to you. Stay active/ stay healthy cause before you know it, you wind up with these kinds of thing becoming a reality.
