We all (Purp, Mancave, and myself) considered him a good friend. I had asked Matt if he was using that bumper (Scott Anthony Designs wraith stinger with winch mount). He said no. I said I know you need the cash, I'll give you $50 for it. (It was still new, they go for $45 I think) again trying to help out a friend. He said cool. I gifted him $55 to even cover shipping. After a few weeks with no bumper or word I texted him and he said his wife was really sick again. We all knew she had lupus so this was fairly common. He then began telling me how bad things were so I told him to not worry just send it when he could (He had said the bumper was in storage, because they were facing foreclosure.) So the bumper was pre anything shady and I like other guys was trying to help a friend. :oops:
 
I do want to make it clear that the go fund me was %100 legit based on what I was told by matt. If anyone has any question I do have the txt and emails to show that he told me what was going on. I do have the email I sent him on how to close out the go fund me. I sent him an email with link and password, told him to change the password and add his account info.
 
Shit like this is why I have little faith in humanity anymore. I've seen a couple sob stories on here actually that turned out to be bullshit, and now I question EVERYTHING. I am more than willing to help someone out when they are down, but when I see a "cause" posted on a forum or FB group I generally don't buy into it, there's just too many shady people. We had a local guy looking for free spare parts to help his brother that was in a wheelchair build a rig, but this guy owned his own business as well as had money to buy his own rigs? Didn't make sense to me...

Moral of the story is, use this as a learning lesson. It sucks to turn a blind eye to someone that *could* be in a situation, but you just never know and from experience more often than not you will get burned.

It does suck. I'm a firefighter and Matt was a fire investigator so we were always swapping stories. I ALWAYS do what I can to help and due to that I haven been burned a few times. I think Matt was good guy facing tough times. (I'm not down playing what he did) It seems like this was out of character to all of us who knew him. But next time anyone needs help they had better be willing to donate a kidney if I ever need one lol. I feel like a jackass but life goes on. On a side note thanks to Purp and Art. Guys have always helped me in all Newb glory "thumbsup"

No need to feel bad man, you were actually the honest person in the deal.
I don't think bad dealings should make cool people weary of everyone that needs help, he was just a dick that took advantage of your kindness.

Karma's a bitch and it sounds like it's kicking his ass right now.
 
glad hes gone , all he did was complain and ask for freebies on the deal we made. if he can drop $400+ on the rig i sold him his money issues are a pile of crap.

WOW I feel lucky. I bought my Wraith from Matt . He shipped it out in a couple days of receiving payment, even threw in a couple extra motors and 2 extra sets of tires and wheels.
 
Bump, beware. I never saw this when it was posted or I'd have added in my own $.02, Matt took me twice once in a trade and I got a boyer with no shocks they were supposed to come later and never did come along with the extra to make up for it, and once on a box of parts I sent him money for and never got.
 
Just stumbled across this thread after wondering when the last time TNCrawler logged in since he hadn't returned the random "hey how's it going" texts I sent him periodically and I'm speechless. I've dealt with matt on easily 10+ transactions and not a hiccup, I've always gotten what we agreed upon. I do recall his wife having kidney/liver problems but didn't realize it got this bad to the point of deception.

Sucks it came down to him taking advantage of the relationships he built here on RCC.
