I wanna be Dave
The Nomadio React is already one of the most versatile pistol grip transmitters out right now. It really does not need to be modified to work well, but I just got the itch to try something I've wanted to do for a long time.
Here are the before/after pics. Can you tell the difference?
Before
After
First had to remove the steering wheel
Next the cover comes off.
And behind the board is the guts (I didn't do anything to that side, just showing what it looks like)
Picked up this Single pole single throw (SPST) switch from Radio Shack. They only had one, so I will have to find another to finish this project. Part #275-0008 http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3190382
Before I took everything apart I marked the wheel where my fingers would rest while in use.
I glued the switch in position using those marks. Once I find another switch, it will go right next to this one to simulate a rocker switch.
Soldered on some leads.
Drilled a hole through the bottom of the cover and routed the wires through.
I soldered the leads to one side of the top middle rocker switch. So now when I press the new switch it activates one side of the top middle rocker switch. The rocker switch still works just like normal, but now I can use the new switch to activate dig (or whatever) while steering.
All buttoned up and ready to use.
Once I find another switch I will be able to use both positions like the rocker switch has.
