Hey yall,
I just recently purchased a Spawn Wraith. Loving the platform and capability!! I used to have a SCX10 back in 2014 but got rid of it. So the Wraith is my first vehicle back into the hobby.
I'm already changing the style of it up and doing mods, which is so much fun! And that leads me to some questions. I've italized and colored the questions.
Axles:
- I don't see many aftermarket axles for sale on RPP or Amain. All out of stock. I see parts like the
tubes, link brackets, etc. Is it really necessary to upgrade the stock axles? I know that would add more
weight down low but I have heavy links already and getting VP wheels.
- I do have the VP Stage 1 upgrades on the way as well. I've heard that's a good upgrade right away for
strength.
- Anything I need to be on the lookout for with these?
Electronics/Battery
- Running stock ESC/Motor with 3S Lipo. Plenty of grunt and speed for it. I
think I'll keep it as brushed for now even when this motor is toast.
Probably step up to a Holmes Hobby. Any 540 recommendations?
- Battery upgrade is moving it to the front. Bought a Protek shorty pack
that's 3S and 4100mah.
- Ecopower WP120T Servo. It freezes up on me some. I think because it
needs more juice and the stock ESC isn't cutting it. I just got my BEC
though. It's a HeyOk No Brainer. Hope it works well
- Placement of the electronics is a bit dumb founding since I'm moving the
battery forward. What's some good options for different sealed electronic
boxes?
Body/Cage
- I did the free fastback mod, just gotta clean up the areas I cut.
- Looking to update interior so I can put my drive figure in.
- Do I need to put a post or something else between the shock mounts to
strengthen it since I won't have the battery tray?
- Need to cut the hood so I can get the battery so I don't have to take the body off. Hoping some body
posts I bought will work. I think they were actually made for a plane or helicopter.
Tires/Wheels
- Stock tires are great, but not scale enough for me. I will use these as backup.
- Ordered some RC4WD Goodyear Wrangler MT/R's. Love the look in real life and love the scale look.
- Ordered some VP Method 101 wheels with .475 hubs.
- Anything I need to be on the lookout for with these?
Suspension
- Running stock shocks with stock springs that came out of the box.
- Upgraded all links and tie rods to Incisions
That's all I can think of that I've done and all the questions as of now. I'll post some pictures when I get some time.
