New SSD Pro Scale 90mm Shocks

Theses look great. Soon I'll be checking out options for shocks for my new project and theses are now my list to check out more. I like the fact that the axial springs will fit for replacement. Makes it easy to get the springs changed out.

Shafts are stainless steel.
Amain ordered first so will have them first. RPP should have them next week..

Ordered up a set from a main last night. Should be here by the end of the week.
They are not solid, they have a slot but sit very stable on the rod end.

Very interested. TRX4 take offs are hard to beat, but I love every SSD product I have purchased. I will be needing shocks soon and am following this to see what people say.
I just put together a set last night, grease up the O-rings and screwed the lower cap back on and it was a bit tighter than I liked so I designed a new O-ring spacer that is .25mm thinner.
I tried 5 different sizes and landed on 1.25mm

I dont know if it will lead to oil leaks yet but so far overnight on the bench its not leaking.

Very nice shocks. Nice to see you also included most of the important technical information on your site.
Most RC builders only consider the extended length (eye-to-eye) rather than the actual shock travel. It's nice to see that this one has a total of 24mm shock travel. Are you going to make one with a 29mm travel? That would equate to a 100mm shock. Please note that the stock Axial 90mm shocks without the rubber bump stops have a shock travel of 29mm.
Also, how do the pistons look? What's the inside diameter of the body? Is it running 8mm pistons? Are these pistons replaceable? Are there different pistons available?

Will these shock’s travel ( not eye to eye ) longer than the stock TRX-4’s shocks?

Just picked up a set in black, seem very nicely put together.
One question - to anyone else that has them or SSD, with the upper ball, what am I missing here? It seems really loose. Obviously on one side it won't go through due to the inner lip on the upper shock cap, but it'll easily slide out on the side where you would put the ball in. I don't know if I'm missing a piece or what. Seems like it would be really sloppy.
In the mean time, I installed the top caps from my King shocks that have the better fit, pressed in ball, no issue there. Other than than liking these alot. Don't seem to leak. On a 8-9lb SCX10 II that I crawl with, got any oil weight recommendations? I have 20 in it now because it's either 20 or 50 with what I have in oil right now, and 50 seemed way overdamped. Hoping for a solution with this upper ball, the gold King upper cap doesn't look great...

The ball goes in one way in the cap. So when installing on the chassis you need to install them in such way that they should not be able to fall into the chassis. So the open side of the cap should be on the chassis side.
Metal balls in alumium shock caps are usually sloppy and fail. That's why I did it this way. Our balls are not sloppy when installed.
