Not sure if this is the right subforum for this, but looks like a new "Pro-Scale" 8s Traxxas just leaked...and it is a massive XMAXX/XRT-based 2WD sand car w/ funco motorsports license.

For the projected price, it better be pretty well-appointed out of the box.

Pretty interesting looking transmission. Guess they had to get creative to adapt the chassis to the application.

Looks pretty cool ... I cant wait to see it from far away and see all the review videos. Disk brake set up looks really interesting and 2wd should be a blast.

Agreed on all points, the braking system is particularly cool, I wonder if some intrepid soul will try a gas conversion as a result.

I love seeing the Amalgam drivers launch their UDRs off of dunes on instagram. I bet this would do quite well for that application.

official traxxas video release looks pretty sweet TBH.

Thanks for sharing, looks great in action in its element. Cool that they made a full scale version with the matching livery.

The lit up antennae look sweet. The orange one is calling my name but I have far too many projects at the moment. One to keep an eye on for sure.

A buddies kid is the the chassis welder for Funco, Traxxas 1:1 car went to the top guy at Traxxas at their last Funco regatta, where the glamis footage comes from. They, Funco, are one of the more popular sand cars in Dubai for instance, and the George family are good people, happy to see this rig for their sake.

I think this is more in favor of the 8s, and volt up gear down concept. (Size) Look at all of the reduction overall!

I think they could have gotten away with a stampede style tranny, strength/size wise!

I’ve exploded a few of their 2wd transmissions on slashes with paddles on the beach with 3s. I have the 272r in my stampede which can definitely handle more but I wouldn’t put bigger tires and expect it to last. I’ve shredded (more than I care to count) my LST2 difs in 4wd and paddles too.

I would love to go terrorize a beach with this thing
I have Pismo beach, Ca a quick drive away where you can drive vehicles on the beach, Dumont is a few hours. It would definitely be a blast. The LST2 in the dunes with paddles was a head turner pulling wheelies when blasting by 1:1 sandrails that were hauling right along. You now see a few larger scale but not all that often, I expect to see a few of these things around. I’d like to see a set of desert tires on it too.

By the looks of it I think they nailed it!

In our area It will get driven every so often by them by those who purchase them but then stay in the toy hauler trailers and not be touched. They won’t keep the batteries in proper order and have to buy new ones every other trip out.

I have a lst2 xxl, that still requires some assembly and I'd like to find a set of beadlocks to hold the losi 420 paddles as rare as (hens teeth) I've been told. Did you have the newer style diffs?

If I remember right the only difference was the longer chassis and drive shaftS, Everything else was the same including the gearing. Only ever saw the paddles for the 420 series in pictures. I don’t remember beadlocks, maybe from integy back when? As far as paddles go I used prolines 3.8 and 20mm hex’s.

It's a cool looking, scale reproduction of a real sand car. Unfortunately, I only like sand at the beach. Where it's flat.

When it comes to full size offroading I avoid sand as much as possible so I'd never put this car through its paces.

The UDR is more up my alley. Wider variety of terrain where it's still in it's element.

Put on some dirt tires and go rip. The problem for me is that it is gigantic, needing space like the full sized rig it resembles. Then stocking up on batteries... no, yeah, I think I still would like one done up dirt style. And a UDR. And.... guess I gotta win the powerball.

I suppose if I can afford $1,300 for the car I can likely spare some dough for dirt tires too.

I do my offroading in Ocotillo Wells, where trophy trucks, dirt bikes and side by sides are the norm. I've never been to Glamis so sand cars are an alien species to me.

Very true statement in regards to the tires.

Glamis and Ocotillo Wells are about the same distance for me. Different animals in terrain but just as much fun. Sadly I don’t get down there as much as I would like, I have friends/family about 2 hours north from there.
