new safari in with broken axle. are there upgraded axles?

hey winnerone what are the length of the m3 bolts you are useing for attaching the lower part of the shock and the arm to the axle when you were attaching it to the plastic? do you understand what im asking? i know kinda vague. Also would it be ok on mine to cut the plastic that attaches to the frame where you have the front upper part of the shocks attached?

Lmao!....... Ok, the lower shock, and link end to the plastic mount on the stock axle housings? I will have to check on one of my spare housings..
As for The second part.. are you talking bout the battery tray? I had it completely cut down. Just had the two screws to the top of the tranny an The two screws closest screws to the inside of the tranny.. if you saw a pic in my thread you are talking bout, click on the quote button at the bottom of the post, put in ur question there an hit reply, it will bring it up at the end of the thread. Then I can see what ur asking as well..

OK I did what you did minus I attached the front shocks to the outside. But as you can see it doesn't return to upright. I don't totally understand why. I followed what you did. Do I need to put those inner springs back in and if so can I cut them down some?

Hmm... I would just put them back in.. first.. I wouldn't cut them right away and get some Lcc shocks or big bores.. big help! HUGE! difference.. then mail me ur anti roll springs! ;)
They are rock crawler shocks.. they aren't made for all the weight up top... The big battery, chassis rails, body, an bumpers... then, laying the shocks down like that, the shafts rub on the way in an out.. no good..

Well I would put those springs back in today and that was my plan but my girlfriend has lost my 25 wt oil for the shocks so guess not happening tonight.

This is after I put the innerspring back in the back right shock. Keeps it way to low

Should I just cut the inner springs until I get new shocks? I would cut them like in half or a quarter.

There wouldn't be much point, I don't think they would catch on anything then, they would just be floating in ur shock body.. did you try standing ur rear shock up in the last hole in the chassis like ur front shock is mounted? Maybe that would help more so then cutting the inner spring..

Ya it still stays the same just about. I think I am just going to get new shocks. You are useing the traxxas xxl big bore shocks right? If so I can get those for 30 for two. Would those make it ride right and stay upright?

I actually run the Lcc 4" shock, internally sprung with the stock internal creeper springs you want to cut up... LOL, don't cut em.. you may want them, its a good setup. Attached with jeepinDoug 6mm stand off shock mounts.. its the best way to go imo...

Also correct me if I'm wrong but with these shocks I fill them with oil all the way to the top just about right?

Get em on the for sale section.. lol. I believe; 30days, 30 posts, or donate to the forum.. you can get in the for sale section.. best place to get everything! I have the list of rigs down below, all built from parts off the for sale section! Or traded for.. everything! The only exceptions are, my Rmdw parts on my paradoxed creeper an the limited edition run rc4wd Cherokee wheels on my scaler.. I haven't bought anything at retail.. minus a couple gears or little things from 3bay.. just somethin to think bout in ur next few posts..

Which shocks? The stock ones or the Lcc? Best setup check, take the spring retainer off an the spring.. fill ur stock shock up. Snug the cap an push the shock in to the end, let it push back, then extend the shock. Tighten the cap, push the shock closed again an let go, the shock shaft should push itself back out, some.. then ur good.. at least that's how I check mine..
The Lcc threads into the shock body so you don't fill it all the way.. like .25" inch down.. as you screw it in, if you have too much, it will ooze out, then follow the rest of the top suggestions..

I moved the upper back some to try and relieve the hard bend in the drive shaft. Worked but now the front doesn't want to flex because when it does the whole front axle rotates forward.

wheres that list at? and i have i believe two weeks left until i can get on the clasified for sale section.

30 days or 30 posts..... I think you should be just bout good...

As for ur front axle rolling forward, check that ur drive shaft isn't binding, you may have to shorten one or The other.. if there is gap from the end of ur female shaft to the butt of ur male, then ur male shaft is too long, if ur female is hitting ur male, ur female is too long.. test with 1/16-1/8" at a time.. if that's it.. I just think ur trying to get too much ground clearance an ride height out of ur shocks.. I had mine loose an a belly dragger. When the belly touches, the ground clearance is still there, just not a high ride height. Like semi droop.

Did you check ur drive shaft for binding?

You may have to make ur upper links a little longer an roll ur drive shaft up some till you get new drive shafts

OK so I just thought I would give this random setup a try and well it worked. Now the driveshaft is better and still good clearance and near as good articulation. But alot stiffer. Winnerone I think I might stick with this until I get those shocks and a few other upgrades you've said. How do you think it looks?
