looks good for a hour. "thumbsup" I bet you have allot more then that in paint time

haha yeah. im planing a two tone flame job. front/flames will be House of Kolor Candy Cobalt Blue, and the rear will be Tamiya Gun metal.
unless i get lazy.

Stang, this is Sunny from GCRCDR. Hellbounder posted about the speed runs and I came over to check it out and stumbled onto your build thread. Cool man, you are almost there. Just need the electronics. Good luck!

Not to worry man. I don't have a star yet even though I'm a member since 2007  Sold my clod crawler early last year and got away from crawling. No comps close to Houston at the time.

well i got electronics in it. i had a 15 year old reedy Fury 12T, and a 15 year old Novak Racer esc and put those in. with a 3600 stick pack.

then i was all amped and ran to the school parking lot behind the house for its first run.

made a pass and then on the return trip i hit a speed bump at about half speed. lol two damn passes and already crashed it. went from about half speed to 0 mph in like .0000001 seconds. just BAM. :(

sheered the zip tie on the battery and ejected it, and the industrial 3M double sided rubber tape on the esc and receiver same thing. sheered that and sent them flying too. it was funny to see the car stop and everythign else keep moving. bent the traction bar a bit but somehow didnt break a single thing!

even the motor moved forward about 1/8" screws still tight and all

was a pretty hard jolt i guess. :D

about how fast do you think it was moving? and how much does the whole package weigh? time for some nice math to determine actual force.?

in the mean time i had ordered some new parts. for one, those teeny tires werent gonna cut it. they just look rediculous, ricer tires on a pro mod, i think not. so i ordered a couple different size tires, bearings for front and rear, and some billet hubs, because just as i was warned the plastic ones split during assembly. still useable, but the spur gear screw holes split.

i used the stock bushings outside the new bearings to space out the rear wheels more to fill the wheel wells better, worked great and the pinion still reached.

also borrowed a couple goodies from my old man for the shootout.

I agree. I use a similar tape from ACE Hardware: Strapping tape. Strong because of the fiberglass strands that runs the length of it and holds well.

the hpi carbon fiber gears are about the best and not too bad on the price......stock up.. tower hobbies has them."thumbsup"

where'd you get the billet hubs?
do they use the same stock hardware to mount the wheels onto them?

bought them at an online RC drag shop, they use 4-40 screws to mount the wheels. yep bolted right up. and a MUCH better system. when removeing the old hubs i found out they had been slipping on the shaft, cant be good when your trying to put the power down. especiall if only one side slips, gonna make for a wild ride!

the body looks to be a willy's pro mod and if i remember correctly the wb sits at 11"
