so I decided to get my first 1/10 a few months back, A CC01 Pajero
I nabbed it off eBay as it was going for a steal, wont post a pic, as I am sure most of us have all seen a stock pajero before.
anyway, first off I started by hacking the body and chassis to get some larger 1.9s to fit, I liked the ground clearance, but it just didnt suit the body, so this made me think to try for something more 'hardcore'
started by cutting the chassis back to bare essentials, bending brass chassis rails and making new links for the rear axle ( forgot pics :roll
then I got my hilux cab and bent up a main rollbar (to match the shape of the back of the cab) a spare carrier and some extra supports.
here it is with some primer on the body (propped up at the rear because the suspension wasn't done at this point)
then I finished the cage by bringing some bars forward right to the front of what was left of the stock chassis and building an internal rollcage for the cab
here is the finished cage with a coat of primer on it, I like the primer look, was going to paint it silver, but this goes with the paint on the body, so it stays!
and with the body and spare on:
and here is the cage mounted to the rest of the truck:
all that was left of the stock chassis:
close up of how the cage is fixed at the front - those bolts attatching the shock mount are about 20mm too long (intentionally) and go up into the tube for the front body mount/ cage bar
4-link setup:
close up of my lengthened output shaft, I would have preferred a longer drive shaft, but this was free and still allowed me to get my desired wheelbase:
rear axle shot showing painted axle/diff cover and my temp 'shock' mounts - couldnt figure out how to mount the complete shock (didnt leave enough space for hoops, will be switching to leafs soon, but for the time being I quite like this look/handling)
so here it is on one of the test runs out on the trail:
and another:
hmmm I see a water crossing up ahead, what better way to test out the waterproofing?
all looks well so far:
yup it works "thumbsup"
and out the other side:
and away we go
So after a few sucessful test runs, it was time to start scaling it up with some bits and pieces. This is where I currently am in terms of accessories:
some towing chains to help out the others who dont roll 'yota :lmao:
a snorkel for those river crossings this rig was built for:
a jerry can for those long haul trails:
and of course a winch to help out in those 'sticky situations' (yet to be waterproofed )
so this is how the rig stands at the moment, I will update the thread as I go along, however progress will be slow (and yes I wil eventually sort out those mismatched rims - funny story to that.....)
on the to do list:
sand ladders
light bar
hi-lift jack
MATCHING spare
shovel
axe
interior
driver
tail lights
towing points
winch bumper w/skidplate
rock sliders
body damage for that hardcore trail beaten look
and the list goes on (open to suggestions - cheaper the better)
also - does anyone know of a 1/10 scale engine? I cant seem to find the parma hemi anywhere (tower doesnt do it anymore) and besides that, I want something more.... yota-ish (remember this hilux came with a straight four)
comments, critisisms, suggestions and body odour insults welcome, so post away - lets hear what you gotta say "thumbsup"
