Well, I got a clod for christmas from my bro, I've been driving it around for almost 2 weeks then I ordered the Clodzilla IV from ESP. I only got to drive it around for a little bit today and I cant wait to crawl. I am going to order some 9t pinions, Clod Locked Diff adapters from inlet r/c, and some Delrin wheel wideners to help clear the links a bit. I am using a Y-harness to control the 4WS cause I cant find the book to my MX-3 today and I wanted to run it today.

What you guys think

This is what Im running now:

Clodzilla IV chassis kit
Novak EVX Speed Control
550 motors
HS 645MG / Futaba S3305
Airtronics 3CH FM reciever
Batteries: (2) 3000 NiMh
Shocks: E-maxx oil filled (going to replace eventually)

For now Im going to stick with te stock tire/wheels untill I find the ones I want.

I just got my Clod Lockers yesterday in the mail, they look like good quality and Im sure they will make a BIG difference.

Nice truck! Let us know how you like the difference with the lockers, i just recently locked the rear diff on my clod and the difference was pretty big, i can't imagine how much better it would climb with the front locked. (i havent locked the front because it's not a crawler, its an all around "basher")

Well I finally got around to locking both ends of my clod. What a big difference! They so easy to install, and the quality is great. Next I got to get some 9t pinions.

Instead of using the stock 540 motors it came with, I stuck two 550 in the thing and they have lots of power. I will eventually want to go with some lathes like you said, but for now Ill be running the 550's.;-)

ok im new to this thats the clod buster 4x4x4 did u try it stock and if u did how did it do
and is it worth buying?

For rock crawling you'll find the stock clod very disappointing. On the other hand alot of people (including myself) love the stock clods for the shear fun of bashing. You can technically buy just clod axles and start building up your rock crawler (or whatever you are looking to build), or you could buy the whole kit and modify it as you get money.
I personally find it more interesting to buy the kit, build it, bash it, and then modify it as i go along. This way you get to see the huge difference between the stock and modified clod. Alot of people will say its a waste of money to buy the whole kit, but in reality it costs about the same. Clod axles will cost you around $130 for the pair. A new kit will cost around $160-170 (from tower with the right discount code) Then you can sell the stock body for $30 on ebay which will bring you around the same price as the axles alone except for the fact that you had the chance to beat the hell out of a stock clod which you couldnt do if you bought just the axles.

i liked that kit so i was thinking about it but i also have a nylint 1:18th scorpion but i was thinking buy that kit and just build it as i go along

anyone have measurement of the tires and wheelbase and i know u have to build it so im sure it wont be to hard:flipoff:

I believe the tires are 5.75 inches tall, but i could be wrong. Oh and assembling the kit is quite easy. My 8 year old brother assembled his, so i'm sure anyone could.

thanks ill probally get it in about a month hopefully ill have a new digital camera by then adn ill take pics it will be stock till i make some money but it wont stock long =)

Yes it is the Super clodbuster 4x4x4 that you can buy from towwerhobbies. I drove it around stock....but not completly stock. Everything was stock except for the motors and speed control. I slamed some 550 e-maxx motors and a EVX speed control and powered it using two epic 3000 NimH packs. The performance was better than I thought it was going to be. The truck was able to climb over alot of things I thought it would not have. Of course a stock clod is not going to be the best for crawling, if you want to compare stock trucks....I'd probably buy a TXT-1. I think the stock blue plastic shocks that the clod kit came with really limited the performance. The stock shocks are CRAP. I also have to agree that it was cool to drive the truck around on its stock chassis so I could see and feel the difference.

I did take some pics before I took it apart to install the Clodzilla 4 chassis. The other truck in the picture is my brothers Kyosho USA-1 that he still has and drives once in a while.

Cool comparison shots man. Takes me back to being a kid who couldn't afford either.

theres a 1900 mah battery pack and then theres another 1900mah battery pack made by tower hobbies wich costs a little more. why is there a difference in price if the mah is the same

if the only crawler you've ever driven is a nylint 1:18 then the clod will make it look stupid when it comes to crawling. Stock clod tires are 6.5 inches and it is a big truck that in stock form will go over stuff that would stop a normal rc in it's tracks. If your not use to large crawlers a stock clod will impress you. I think you'd be happiest with a stock clod and modify it as you grow into crawling more.

You might want to focus on either racing or rock crawling, because the two have many differences. Or you should get two trucks if you can afford it. If the nylint is the only truck you got, then I suggest you look into the E-Maxx. I have one and I like it alot. The truck really takes a beating. You can shift manually from first to second gear which sounds like it might be right up your ally. Just my 2 cents.
