MTHead's Toyrunner

Ok, snuck out to the garage a bit today, got the body mounted, opt'd for the hinged back.

Probably going to take the whole roll pan off and go with a double tube bumper.

Doors filled in, Cab floor and firewall in.

Got to build a dash then I can finally do the tube work, which I have been waiting for..

First off I want some of these lol. Just kidding, they wouldnt work for my truck but i love the idea.
Looks great so far. Cant wait to see it with the tube work on there. Keep it going.

Thanks "thumbsup"

I finally finished them off and pressed 3mm nuts into the backside of the shock mount. I ordered the aluminum shock bodies thinking I would have to cut them down for the rears, that's not the case now but I think I'll still install them when they arrive.

This is a great build! Something very different and seems to be well thought out. Keep it up!"thumbsup"

What wheels are those?

I like the chop"thumbsup"

Axial 1.9's with a set of my FUBAR rings
48 dummy screws cut down to about .080" long, this is the first set I tried spotfacing the 2mm - 2/56 screw holes.:ror:

Oh I dig it. I remember YEARS ago wanting the convertible hardtop kit for my slammed mini truck. This reminds me of that.

Memories, from the corner of my mind....

Totally digging the revised rear shock mounts. Speedholes make me drool... Should be super stable and still flex enough. Do you have any pics showing how close the tires gets to the shocks at full flex?

Convertible first gen Toyota is where its' at! Must be your gonna complete it with some sort of cage. It'd be cool if you tied the cage into the top of the shock towers, but it might make removing the body more difficult. I can hardly wait to see it. Those Swampers do a great job of filling out the fenders, the stance is spot on.

Thanks Pinchy..

Awesome job. Good to see the Yota transformed into something unique. Love it!

If I remember I'll get some flex pics after I convert it to 4-link. Yes it will have a full cage, I'm trying to get to that point and roughing in as much of the interior as I can so I don't have to work around the cage. Doubtful it will tie into the shock mounts though, did that once on a Jepp, it was a PITA! :ror:

So I finished up a few other customer projects and had some time to spare, roughed out the dash and center console. Also rounded up a set of Reign RC seats and fuel cell that will fit perfectly behind the rear seat.

Perfect fit!!

I'll hollow out the bottom to allow the screws from the body mount to recess in the cell.

May I add my worthless opinion on the rear portion of the cage? I love the rest of it I just feel like the back legs are kinda...not really sure what word to use...maybe boring? or non toyotish? I do have a pic of how I would do it though "thumbsup"
