So with the Bronco on it's final stages of being finished and the Wraith basically a bolt on parts rig I thought I needed another hole in my eMpTy HEAD. :ror:

Found this on the board last week. Your basic SCX10 kit scaler with a Hilux body. The body is in decent shape and the bed has already been bobbed.

The chassis is really clean, not much for rock rash and I couldn't resist putting on my new tires with special rings

but it will get some upgrades, first of which will be the drive shafts from the Wraith since it got MIP shafts.

Then I ordered up from THE CRAWLER STORE:

Hitec 5645 servo.
HandBros CMS for the Honcho
HH TorqueMaster Expert 35T
CC Sidewinder
Axial Link Tree for the rear truss
3Racing winch

This should get the chassis squared away, time for some body work

Had a plan in my head but wasn't sure if it was something that would turn into an abomination or something cool so I asked the lord of the Toyota realm, yep 1BJB himself. :ror:

He simply replied with this:

Although the wrong year, it was exactly the direction I wanted to go. Topless with the cab and bed joined and a rear seat. A professionally home made 4runner

So out came the chop saw and we have this

Next up will be cutting the doors so I can start the interior skins while waiting on the chassis parts to arrive.

With you buying all these rigs. You going to run out walls to hang them on. :ror:

Those are some beefy drive shafts! Looks like an awesome build."thumbsup"

Sweetness!!!!!

Me or the truck? :ror::ror:

True dat!!

Stock shafts right off the Axial Wraith.

cant wait to see how this turns out

BTW, I forgot to mention I'm part of "Team Slow Ass Builder" could be awhile :ror:

That's just TMA (too much awesome) :ror:

Nope, not until it's ORANGE! :lmao: Just had to throw that in there, it will probably stay silver though, don't have a silver rig yet.

Well that didn't take long! :ror: Jim's Toyota is still one of the baddest toyotas I have seen built. It's far from cookie cutter and any rig that can flop in the hot tub be flipped back over and Wheel the rest of the day is a champ!

I thought I had more pictures of this thing but apparently I don't :x maybe miniwheeler will share some more pics"thumbsup"

Hi Mike! Ya, as soon as you said you can totally see it I started hacking.
Well, That's a good shot of the belly, now I know what the rock rails look like. :ror:
I sent him a PM to see what he's got as far as cage and interior pics, like I said before
even thought it's the wrong year the concept is the cool factor in my eyes.

I got vendor parts to finish today but I'll see what I can get done afterwards "thumbsup"

Holy crap, MTHead has a build thread!! :lmao::lmao:

Looks like fun John, but I'm pretty sure you're already out of wall space. "thumbsup"

Damn talk about peanut galley! :lmao:

Yep, the Bronco and Wraith are sitting on the workbench in my way. :flipoff:

Ok, got a bit of time to work on it today.

Started off with the bed, figured it was easiest and I'd needed to rework the rear shocks to keep them from poking through the floor.

(note to self, cut out wheel wells before gluing the bed in next time!)

Reworked rear shock mount, I spread the chassis open to the same width as the skid to allow the shock room to clear the frame.

Might need to hide them under the rear seat a tad so I can lower the body another .250". I'll look into that when I get to the cab area and how much of the transmission I can hide.

Then cut the doors, need to pick up some thinner styrene to skin them with.

I also found out that MEK works great for gluing styrene as my bottle of adhesive evaporated in this summer heat. :ror:

Don't think I'll ever buy a bottle of styrene adhesive again though, that worked damn good!. "thumbsup"

nice work so far.

except, if that thing has any weight to it, that rear shock setup is going to probably be a floppy hot mess.

ask me how I know... although that was with proline shocks so, maybe it will be better for you?

Dang, I was thinking Pro-Lines.
If I went with 80mm I could stand them up in the wheel wells. It does seem really loose now, kindy floppy actually.. :ror::ror:

H3 I take it?

like Hugh Hefner without the little blue pills floppy...

yes it was on the h3, I ended up shortening those scx shocks, didn't really loose any usable travel, and it was much better in the stability department.

It also works om ABS. Those are the rings I was ask you about, nice work.

The aluminum truggy was set up that way and it was way floppy, sucks for climbing to.

Good progress so far John...makes me want to build something...maybe when it cools down. :ror:
