Minor Threats Ground Haug Build

I had a problem with the fxr last night and today. when reversing it wouldn't stop when i let off the trigger. I checked my TX as per the tekin thread but that was okay. I have my drag set to full and this issue was only happening in reverse; flat and incline, so i am wondering if at certain times, my battery cable might have been pushing on the switch as it's located right at the front and so i moved that to the side of the chassis. i won't know if it works until Friday but maybe that did it. we'll see.
I also moved the antenna wire off the motor wires as I started thinking that there might be some sort of feed back coming from them...probably not as I'm using a spektrum 2.0 but still, worth the relocating if all is well. I wonder if the upgrade to the software might be an issue, not much feed back on that beta that was downloaded that I'm aware of.

after having some fun while out of town i decided to make some straps for my batteries. i'm thinking about using a nylon - rubber web strap so the batteries don't slide out. I'll be getting a stronger servo to since i feel that the tire fold in cramped areas is stopping the servo a bit. just basic upgrades.

It does appear that your design is not comp legal. If your windshield area is 1" or taller at the hood line, you are fine, but you must have separate side body panels that are at least 1" tall and 2.5" wide to be legal, as I don't believe the skid itself qualifies as being a "chassis". Or you could weld the sides, panels and skid together to form a unibody chassis, which would also make the vehicle legal.

LOL. funny gunnar. it's comp legal, you're just saying that cuz I thought Jenns wasn't legal. seperate panels means that they're seperate. i already had that conversation with cvrc guys...

What you should really consider doing is posting a picture of your chassis in the rules section, here -

I mean no disrespect to CVRC by saying this, but I was right there with Drumbeater when we tech'd everyone. We let alot of people slide in the novice class with things. And to be fair to Drumbeater & CVRC, that was what I asked of them. We had a few discussions about this prior, alot of it was even prompted by your initial questioning of the rjspeed/bolink bodies. I asked Steve to be generous in the novice class as we had lots of guys with concerns about the rules prior to the event and I believe almost all 22 entries, this was their first time competing.

You know what happens at a local club level can be alot different than at other events/comps.

I know you had a lot of dialogue with him and others offline too, but what can it hurt?

I'd post a couple pictures and ask.

Thnx Mann, i know I was emailing DB about the side issue to as I was confused but I was also going off the '08 rules. after reviewing the '09 rules I see that it says the side panels must be seperate but that they also need to be attached to a frame. the side plate was considered a panel but now i'm reading it to say it's not, that I need a peice of something screwed to the sides as the "frame" is a plate, the tvp but not considered to be a panel. thnx for helping me see this, i appreciate it very much. I know DB said my beta chassis was okay but when we meet up at the course with kevin, db said the side plate would be find if it didn't have a hole as the old rules say just a solid side which was very open to interpetation. I'll post a pic and get the right answer, thank you mike and scott!

Just heard back from Lee:

" Default Re: '09 usrcca rules
yes that means the tvp will need a separate panel that can be removed. It can be made from any solid flat/sheet amterial, but needs to be separate. hope this helps

That said, i'll need to remove the lower and upper screws, cut a priece of super thin lexan or film, colored would be cool maybe, and screw it on. no worries, thanks agian you two.
