I ended up ordering a monster truck kit from ECB3Dprinting, and man is this thing cool! I bought a new deadbolt to take apart as a donor. I’ll be running the stock electronics until I can order some Furitek goodness. Here’s the kit plus what I’ll be using from the deadbolt.

I got the chassis all mounted up, and just had to throw on some mud tires!

I also couldn’t resist mocking up a body on this thing! This is not the body I plan on using, it’s intended for another project, but man does it look good! In the end I’ve chosen to run a ‘72 C10 body, but I haven’t started on it yet. So in the meantime…

And here’s one more with the monster truck tires mounted on it. It’ll be nice to have the option to go back and forth.

Oh I could definitely fit a 130 motor in there with some sumo axles under it.

Couldn’t resist a little test run! Man is this thing fun! It even crawls well too. I’m really impressed with this kit. The only downfall is the electronics. It definitely needs some more wheel speed without losing torque. Furitek is sounding really good right about now.

Hi,

Great thread. I just received my ecb3d chassis and was wondering what type of bodies you are using?

I’m using 1/25 scale bodies. The long bed truck kits fit the deadbolt wheelbase perfectly. The short bed trucks are a little too short. The one I have pictured is a short bed, so I’m going with a ‘72 Chevy C10 long bed instead. I just haven’t had the time or energy to work on it in awhile.

Sometimes when starting a build I have a distinct plan in mind, but it doesn’t always stay that way. From the start I had planned on using a ‘72 Chevy body for this build. But the more I looked at the other body I posted, the less I wanted to use the ‘72. So I decided to take a different route. Anyway here is the body I was going to use.

So I’ve decided to go with a ‘65 Chevy step side. I think it has just the right look! I ended up using the shorter links in the deadbolt kit to shorten the wheelbase. And here she is, getting close!

Looks perfect on there. Are the tires from the model kit soft do they work well?

The tires are a bit stiff, but they actually work really well! I was very skeptical at first, but the first test run made me laugh at how ridiculously well they just rolled over everything I put in front of them.

This thing is getting close! I got the interior to fit and finished up pretty much everything. I made the body mounts, now I just have to glue them in. I’m also going to make some light mounts to house the lights from the kit. Then it should be ready for paint! Can’t wait to see this one finished!

That's incredible with those tall & skinny plowboys!

You need to post this all OVER the place after paint!

Well she’s all done, at least with fabrication. Now it’s time to blow her apart and get it ready for paint. I ended up mounting the body by using a hinge in the rear and neo mags in the front. Works perfectly for accessing the battery and electronics. Now to figure out what color…

Thank you! And I will post it all over the place. That place being here, and maybe Instagram.
Tonight I ended up doing some things with paint and stuff. Getting closer…

Getting really close to done with this one! Just need to clear the body, glue some stuff, and put it all back together.
