Mattzilla's Tundra Truggy for Bulldog

Shopwork update. Lue finished the chassis and it's ready for powdercoating. I asked Lue to put a lot of small details into this chassis, and was super picky about tolerances, details, etc. He worked with me and rolled with my punches. Thanks Lue! Custom building is tough, and having a little Bulldog barking in your ear can drive you nuts. Hopefully it all pays off with a killer truggy. Here's the pics.

Nailed the front tubework and bumper mount. We also did an interior roll cage to make it super scale.

A lot of tubework, but nothing Lue can't handle.

Thanks for looking. Lue has done a lot of work for me lately including powdercoating my trailer and making links for my southern buggy. Updates on these builds coming soon. Thanks Lue!8)8)8)

Nice. That interior roll cage is sweet! It's a shame I live on the east coast, Lue is building a Tundra truggy chassis for me. I'd be cool to pop in to see the work in progress...

Cheers,
Todd

I've seen Lue's builds for years and finally wanted him to build me one. I wanted something strong (3/16 solid rod) and tig welded, and that's what Lue does. His welds and attention to detail (perfect squareness and lines) are what I wanted. He only puts out his best work each time. I can build chassis', and can braze and bend, but tig welding is a different game. When you build a chassis and can measure the tolerances in 1/16"...you know you've got someone talented. "thumbsup" Just wait until you get yours. You'll be thrilled.

Powdercoating and mockup

Well,
Lue sent the chassis back to me yesterday and it turned out as I had planned. I had to mock it up and take a few pics. I've got a quality case of orange peal on the body I need to fix, but overall I'm loving it. Here are the pics.

The light bar worked out perfectly once I changed the light bar! The new one mounts from the back and bottom instead of the sides.

Fabbed up a little radiator to hide the servo.

I'll be building some sort of bed for the back. Lue added some nuts for me.

Still waiting on some stainless links Lue is making up for me. Awesome job Lue! Thanks for looking.

Wow, I dont usually like Tundras but damn... this thing is beautiful! Amazing work Lue, you really are among the elite chassis builders today "thumbsup"

Bulldog... you lucky mofo :flipoff:

I have to agree too. Never really liked tundras. but this one has some class! Nice job so far guys!

Thanks guys. I would love to go all in and throw the paypal at this, but I wanted to build the chassis just for kicks. That's the fun for me. I'll end up selling this one. Most of my funds are going to the southern buggy and the build after that. As for a spare, no spare. Some scale goodies, but trying to keep it simple. "thumbsup"

A little update. Plenty left to do. Waiting on some parts for the southern buggy, so this guy got some attention last night.

Thanks guys. Sorry for the crappy pic. I'll have some more pretty shots as It comes together. Stang, I'm going for as blacked out as I can. But you're right, red would look good on there...along with some saucier wheels. This rig is just for fun though. Low budget! "thumbsup"

bro what you got there is not low budget. it is extremely nice though. i'm not sure but i heel like your doing this to force me to finish my trucks sooner. every time i see one of your update it make me want to try harder and finish my truck.

Keep an eye out, this one will be for sale. The fun for me is the building and the engineering challenge. Low budget is relative when you compare it to my other builds (screamin 2!)"thumbsup"

true budget is always relative. mostly relative to your savings or checking account lol. i'll be watching for it in the FS treads or in my pm box?
it is a very sweet build though it looks like something i would take to KoH.

Bulldog,
This is turning out so sweet! Tough for my Tuna to live up to...

I'm such a newb at this - everytime I get started on something for it I'm missing some screw (my wife would concur-but that's another matter) or some minor part - UGH!

Cheers,
Doc
