To me, thats the fatal flaw of this truck. The batt door/ec3 connector. If i could swap that plug out for a hardwired deans type and have a door that accepted different batts, id give it a 10 score.
the rest of my setup.. well tlr 37.5 up front in shocks. and 30k in center diff. nothing special. im working on a front swaybar fix.. annoyin pos it is..
and new boca black seals on both pinions with 1 shim. .5mm??? I think. its tight but it wore in good and I don't have the crunchy ring and pinion slippage anymore.
I believe you put a shim in between the driveshaft yoke and the pinion bearing so it pulls the pinion gear away from the ring gear. Without it i think the pinion has the tendency to run into the ring gear causing the damage.
actually the rear was after failure. the front.. well during failure. close call!!!
the rear.. well just failed.. heat maybe? it was on practice day at the great lakes showdown when it happened. I had to rush home to my hobby shop and do a quick fix. it was an instant fail. kinda funny watching the rear end just slide out way father then be dragged by the front. I got maybe 2 laps before it happened.
ive had only crunchy sounds during hard 0 to WOT in the front. the bearings looked fine upon removal until I felt the wobble. im glad I caught it sooner than later.
I feel that the pinion to ring center spacing gets a bit off cause the plastic flexes. so I shimmed it. no issues since.
