I've been the only comp guy in my town ever since I got into this hobby, other than 2-3 guys about an hour away I'm all there is. I've had a ton of friends and even more scale guys talk about getting into it but, money and lack of knowledge interfere. So I figured since I've built a decent sporty for myself and a couple pros, that I'd build a "loaner" sporty in hope of growing the hobby locally. I decided I would stay on the cheaper end of things since my plan may not work out, if not, at least I'll have another sick rig. I got some parts in the mail today and figured I would start another thread.

Still waiting on a few things to get worked out but this should be plenty to start with.

We’re all like, “Dude, I hope you live in my town!” Yeah, righteous. I like what you’re doing here a lot.
Haha, thanks I think it's a good plan. I hope you guys live in my town too! Sucks being the only comp guy for sure.

Possible Dravtech skid plate integrated transmission worked out and I finally have everything I need to get this rig together. Super stoked about this rig, we'll see how many others I can get excited about it and grow the hobby locally. Just need to find the time to make 7075 links, doovers, then everything else should be a simple slap together job [emoji1690]

Doovers and ultra narrow pins came together ok, had a spill accident on the inner side wall of the second tire. So they're by no means perfect, but I'm happy with the turn out for my first time doing doovers. Now on to setting up the new wheel/weight set up from Barry's R/C Carbon Fiber [emoji16]

Tires, wheels, and weights completely done [emoji16] Hoping to whip up some links tomorrow. I'll also need to mod some Traxxas big bores and then it should be onto things like drivelines, smash plate, battery tray, and all the other small fun stuff [emoji106]

So I was able to get the front and rear lower links done a few days ago. I did come up a little short on the front lowers and I'm skeptical of them creating some front driveline binding issues. I decided I'm gonna try and run with it for now before I throw some Jato ends on or remake them. The only way I'll know if they're going to work is to continue putting the rig together, so I'm hoping to spend this Christmas day on the bench. I know there's nothing wrong with a forward bias chassis but, it might just be a little to forward so we will soon find out.

Got all the links done and have a few minor adjustments to make but all seems good. I have to say this 7075 aluminum rod is so easy to work with and it has been nice not having to waste any material. I plan to do the drivelines next but have also been really excited to start working on the body. Either way we're down to the small stuff and I'm confident in having this rig ready by spring no problems for anyone local wanting to shred it.

Getting a little more work in on the loaner, so I decided to just remake the front upper links after finding some threaded rods in my toolbox that I never put to use. Now I'm not having any rubbing issues and everything feels smooth. I also found an SDI driveline leftover from swapping out my personal sportys rear ar60 to a Tom Foolery that happens to fit the SuDu perfectly. So I didn't start with the front driveline but I plan to over the next few days. I also started cutting the Proline bug body up and I have to say it is REALLY big compared to what I'm used to. So I'll keep hacking it up and see where we end up with it. I'm also thinking of going with red and black this go around since my fleet is already white and black. Either way we're moving right along [emoji4]
