LC79 build

This just keeps getting even better.

Best 79 series I've ever seen.

Sorry I missed this the first time around.

Love the total dedication to scale details AND proper functioning parts. When I saw the tire valve on the wheel rim, I knew this was going to be a good thread.

Thank you both!

Tried the truck with all electronics and it works nicely so disassembled everything to sandblast and paint what was needed. I'm also trying to use scale hardware where possible(and if I have it on my stash)

First, painted the front axle to blend in the radius arms mounts

Then, dealed with the rear one and improved with fake printed drum brakes. I was not liking of,from behind, seeing the void inside the wheels

Put some M2 scale bolts and 1mm aluminium wire to make some kind of brake hard lines

Made a mistake. On one of the experiences with the hood, glue seemed to have made a reaction with the plastic and bent the hood. I tried to solve it with putty and tried to speed up drying the last layer of putty by putting the piece on the oven. Was not really after cooking but was hot enough to melt the hood (sad face)

Because killerbody doesn't sell just the hood, got my hands on another one to copy

Tried to replicate everything but integrated the hinge mounts and also the mount for the prop rod

It was printed in PETG-CF and needs a bit of work like every other printed part. Tried a new thing and applied XTC-3D epoxy to reinforce a bit and smooth everything before sanding

As I said before, by chance, found a 3D model of a engine bay ( Link ) on Cults and I bought it. This was a thing I was considering adding in the future and saved me a lot of work. It even is the engine I would go for, the Turbodiesel V8. The model fits great on the killerbody cab and the illusion works, even being just a cover

My buddy TheGamer did the resin prints. I just printed the intercooler because had to have the fins and plates instead of the plain surface.

Painted everything with black bumper paint to make the plastic parts look like...plastic . Covered every see-though hole with styrene and the used Tamiya XF-1 flat black paint to cover every surface that isn't a part(the voids) . Painted the small parts and added tubing and cables to fill the voids.

I'm not going to lie...I saw the disk brakes on another project and loved how this small detail looks when seeing from the front

Had to do for the Toyota. I don't have progress pics because I did it at work with little time but basically, machined disks from steel with an hidden section which offsets from the hubs. I brazed them afterwards

I didn't drilled any holes because the 1:1's are that simple. I'm not sure about the caliper...nothing is off the table

Now I'll wait for the rust

Legit hood scooped hood, nice engine bay printed and detailed, and now the front vented disc brakes. Will you make scale calipers? All the little details are badass. Scale calipers and brake lines!

Thank you! I want to do calipers but have to put my mind to it. They would complete the look

This build sat on the shelf for quite some time. There's things to finish like lights and front brake calipers but I fancied a drive so got a driver and fix everything needed

This is my first drive:

Truck runs great,it is more capable than I expected , just needs attention to the low clearance of axles and the center section of the exhaust . I really wanted to make a video and , in a way, I did but of my 2 kids driving it. It could be the ultimate durability test but they are natural scale drivers. Very gentle with the throttle

Looks bad ass! If i didnt know better, I'd say it was 1:1, unreal.

I have gathered/built a forge for smelting/melting aluminium, bronze, brass. It would be cool to take your 3d printed parts and cast them, but you can accomplish most that with machining as you have been too. That x member and the bed mounts would look cool! NOT KNOCKING on your work in any way!

This is the 70 series all others will be judged by. Top notch build all around. I really enjoy seeing other people scratch building parts.
