Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

My mistake. I thought your scale in this pic was reading 5.9 lbs but it must be 5lbs 9oz.

Still... your build is inspiring to the rest of us who just can't seem to get sub 5 pound trucks to work worth a darn. "thumbsup"

after checking again
you are right and I was mistaken...this scale reads different than my large scale.

5.9lbs

That picture has an slw and a Dh on it.

6lbs with the Dh combo and 5lbs 11 oz with my slw setup.

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

Hello,

awesome chassis design and great setup informations "thumbsup""thumbsup"

You wrote...

FRONT:
axial xr shocks

preload 8mm

internal limit of 3mm
external limit of 10mm

fully extended length.
101.9mm

fully compressed length
85mm

actual stoke 17.8mm

rear shocks:
axial xr shocks

preload 10.5mm

internal limit none
external limit 13.1mm

fully extended length
107mm

fully compressed length
89.5 mm

actual stroke 17.39mm

...102 and 107mm fully extended lenght. I think there will be a problem
with SCX shocks. They are 91mm or 96mm (96 with longer rod end) and
that's very close to your compressed lenght. So???

Greetings Frank

I honestly have zero experience with the scx shocks other than on my scaler where they perform subpar at best.

You should be able to run them with the longer ends but at an overall lower belly height.

Is there a reason you want to.run those over the xr shocks?

Simply would give them a try. I just finished a drawing for a moded SCX cap which will add the required lenght. Will keep you updated, if you like.

Thanks for your quick answer.

After opening my cases yesterday and seeing all the grease still on my gears and rotating parts....where I put it. And actually how little it broke down after a season of running.

I was thinking I might rebuild my shocks and pack the grease in the o rings to keep the oil in even better in my xr shocks.

It should probably work very well for most other shocks too.

thats great news maN"thumbsup" Im glad it worked for so long in those hot temps down there:shock: i rebuild all my socks with the GS and it does help keep things from leaking. not a fix but its a band aid :ror: i really like the scx shocks but dam do they take a dump:evil: about once a week gotta refill
!!NOT COOL!!

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

Did you try moving the rear lockout weight into the wheels yet, results?

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

yes... and it feels more planted than before in the off camber down area.

the weight is farther from center on the axle and you can never go wrong with that"thumbsup"
How much per side 1 or 2 oz?
What's your total wheel, tire, foam, weight on the rear with weights included?

I am at 6.7 oz with my Khaos setup, so I guess I will just add 1 oz to mine and be at 7.7 oz

cool.

i have been doing a lot of foam testing for the last few weeks and it is truley amazing what a very well set up set of tires and foam will do to a truck.

i have not changed one thing as far as "setup" during the testing.

i have seen first hand how tire and foam setups are more critical to overall performance than any link/shock movement at all.

there have even been a few combos that made me want to throw the truck away and start over:shock:

at that point,

i go back to my staring point to reasure myself that it is the combo and not me or my truck...

i really think once you guys get the trucks set up your main focus will become tire and foam tuning. i have said it before, but it is the most important thing...

the tires and foam are the only things that are keeping you on line and not off course."thumbsup"

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

Care to share your foam setup? Are you a soft or firm foam user?
