Kratos Team BWD Mini Wedge "Low Pro"

I've been running the MRC Pro for almost a year and have really loved it. I wanted to take it to the next lvl so i talked to Don and he sent me the low pro. I received the Low Pro a few weeks back and have been slowly putting it together. Thanks Don for all the goodies and the awesome looking chassis. Onto the parts list

Cheap Losi Motor. cant remember which one but i think they are 5 or 10 bucks each. i have a Team Brood Anarchy 19t but am too lazy to install right now:ror:
Tires are rovers with nova soft front and medium trimmed 1/4in rear. sometime i switch the rear to chisels or stock claws if they have too much bite and flip me over.
Wheels are Eritex 6 shooters 4oz in each front wheel none in rear

In this pic you can see my steering linkgage was hitting the shock mount. all i did was take a sanding disc on my dremel and take some material off so i could get some more steering.

Heres the steering angles. im not happy with them and will hopefully get more out of it before the Indoor Championships

I was having a really hard time with this truck. at first it was sitting soo high that it was binding my driveline to the point where i was at 3/4 throttle before the wheels would spin. A local guy told me that he read about needing to limit shocks and i felt like an idiot for not thinking about it. So i limited the stock MRC Pro shocks using springs from pens that i read about and its still sitting too high. i then realized that im using the wrong shocks. So i have ordered the Late model Shocks and will limit them to get the proper height i need. the shocks should be here tomorrow or saturday and i will have it all done hopefully before Indy. Looking forward to getting this truck working the way i know it can. Will post up more when i get the shocks"thumbsup"

Those should do the trick. I limited mine internally with 3/8" sections of pen springs, they are just right now. I also ground off the tops of the Mini Late Model shocks and screwed on the caps from the Pro Roller shocks; much better movement. You can see on page 2 of my build exactly what I did with the shocks. I just won my 4th comp in a row with my Low Pro, so I think it's set up pretty well.

Thanks papa. i noticed that on your build and i limited my shocks without paying attention to what shocks you were running lol . im really hoping to get the shocks saturday. im getting some popping from the tranny and i thought that i blew the gears but tore it apart and its good. tightened down the slipper and it still does it. gonna see if it does it after i get the new shocks since i think it may be the angle of the driveline. im looking forward to getting this thing up and actually working. gonna run a bug body that i mangled with trying to find a good mounting position lol

im sure all my problems are based on the shocks. it just seems to have some insane twist and alot of side to side movement. once i get the right shocks on there and get the proper spring setup im sure all will be good.

I have a set of late model shocks if you want them. No springs though.

Which P/N are those "correct" shocks you guys referring to? Whats the problem with the stock metal MRC Pro adjustable ones?

I really want to try and cut down some of the Axial SCX shocks and try them on one of these. That way you have an adjustable rod end up top and a 3 mil top and bottom. Not sure it has enough threads though.

that would be really nice but i dont think the shock mount holes allow a 3mil top. i drilled out my bomb proof shock mounts for the lowers to accept the 3mil from the traxxas rod end on the link. but yes that would be awesome to have 3mil instead of the dinky ones that are on it

I updated the first post with the part umber for the shocks and i put my wheel/tire/foam setups also.

Got the shocks done and a little more steering out of it. took it outside and was hearing lots of clicking so i gassed it and the clicking stopped... and so did the truck:lmao:. darn tranny gears blew out on me again. wen to the lhs and got some more, switched it out and its all good now. going to post pics soon. was playing around in the house and while attemping a climb that was off camber and the truck kept wanting to tip over like the rear didnt want to settle. im running losi mini t silver up front and red out back. may switch to pink up front leave the red out back and mess with some link placement. cutting it close to get it halfway tuned before Indy but it does breakovers like a champ and sidehills very well so it getting there.

Sorry that im just now reading the whole question. the problem with the stock metal MRC Pro adjustable ones is that they aree way to long. you need a much shorter shock so these fit the bill nicely

Thanks. yea im tuning it in house so i hope it works well on the rocks. been raining here so no go on outside. i can crawl 58 degrees with the curreent setup but the front right does lift a bit. ill put a stiffer spring back there and put the pinks in front. hopefully that will allow it to settle down some. the torque twist i have no is pretty close to what my mrc pro had but my pro settled down alot easier in off camber. obviously i had alot of tuning with it... not really i just set it up to Rubbas specs changed front springs and that was it. just driving this lil guy around the house i can tell breakovers are alot, and i mean alot, better than my mrc pro chassis. once i get this settling down issue resolved it will be just as good as my pro. cant wait and hopefully i can get it halfway by Indy. looking forward to seeing you guys too.

Nice build. Those white chassis' just look sexy. Still think the white Wicked Cricket is the coolest lookin mini Ive run or even seen.

Im seeing a trend in runnin BECs on 2s. What are your thoughts on this? Since a BEC is basically used to regulate the 11.1v of 3s down to the acceptable ranges for your servo, and a 2s pack is already at that upper end for most of its cycle, Im wondering if Im misinformed or missing something others aren't.

I'm wondering the same thing J.D. I'm running 2S with a BEC set at 6V. I guess I'm being cautious since when fully charged my 2s is over 8V. Think I'll keep it in there though - doesnt take up much room.

Yea...thats the nice thing about the CC BEC...shes cheap and little...like my sister in law :shock:

I figured the same. Your 2s at its very peak is around 8v but its not there for long and by the time you figure in the draw of the mtr and esc...the servos not getting much above its 7.4 ceiling, if anything.

I was just curious because Ive seen a handful of mini builds lately where a BEC is being used. I guess safe IS better than sorry. "thumbsup"

I run a bec , my steering servo would stop working when the motor was under load. Put a CC bec in it and it all went away, I was also able to step up the steering voltage! Aren't you done YET? :lmao:
