I have been eyeing up a 1/24 scale U1300 unimog at my LHS for months and they just happened to have an Ambush in stock. One thing led to another and my wallet got a lot lighter. Here's the result so far!

The only major modifications I had to do was a hole for the front shock towers.

As much as I like the rear of the model it just won't suit the wheelbase so I'm planning on building my own rear section to house the ESC and battery. I know performance will suffer but it's not like this was gonna be a comp rig.

This was a bunch of firsts for me. First time using my new spray booth ventilation system and first time mixing my own colour for airbrushing. Couldn't be happier with the outcome, pretty much bang on what I wanted.

Cab is almost done, figure I should start on the rear portion.

One day I'd like to own a unimog camper so why not start in 1/24 scale. Started by scaling up a photo I found online and got the camper dimensions. Next step is cutting it all out of styrene and figuring out some body mounts.

Funny how that works ain't it. Love the build so far.

This little guy has me wanting to get another and build a scale recovery tow truck out of it.

More the merrier! These tiny builds are a whole new challenge plus they're much easier to hide from the wife!

Looking pretty good! I just got another Trekker, an extra axle, and have been wanting to do a MAN 6x6 build for awhile. I may look for a cab and do a build like yours or go the scratch built route. I like how yours is coming along. You're so right about the wife part!!

It's been a while but the project is still on the go. I didn't do the best prep job on the camper so I did what any normal person would do and slapped a couple stickers on it. Ironically there isn't a single Axial part in it.

Here is how she's sitting now. About 5 minutes into the first trip I lost throttle and steering. I re- bound it and regained steering but no throttle. After taking it apart and poking around some wires I found out the motor failed and burnt up the ESC in the process. A bit of a disappointment considering it hasn't even been through a full battery yet. On the plus side I bought it locally so they can deal with the proline warranty.

Now I wait and try to decide if I should cut the cage off and paint it black... Thoughts?

Great start, love the Unimogs. Since you asked, lose the cage and paint the rest orange to match the cab. Hope your Proline warranty goes well and the new electronics last more than 5 mintes! :ror: 8)

Contact proline. They helped out another person quickly.

You should check out ImThatGuy's Ambush Unimog Dakar rig. Similar concept.

These Ambushes are a ton of fun to build.
