Late last year I sold off alot of my RC's as life was busy and hobby time was lacking.

I attended the 2016 cANZ nationals with a rental rig to drive in pro, i was lucky enough to be drawn for the marshalls raffle which was a sweet Dlux Bounty Hunter Chassis and link kit.

So after sitting on the kit for a few weeks looking into parts and deciding if i was going to build or not, i was in.

A quick rundown on the parts list and i will add photos once they are uploaded.

Awesome! I didnt know it was you who won it. Thats great!

That is one unique car already. You have never seen those parts together on a Berg, thats for sure!

So i got abit of time last night to work on the axles,

I currently have the rear locker only in the case as i will be making some TI rear axles, also have the MFD link mount on so i can attach the axle to the chassis later this week.

Front axle is mocked up with tubes servo and C-hubs,i also have my Protek 170S installed with a Robitronics horn.

I noticed the Vanquish hubs aren't splined completely so when i am modifying the missing link locker and tube i will knock the splines down alittle to allow proper fitment.
IMG_3956.jpg

The servo is spaced up 8mm to gain some clearance at the bottom of the front tube.

After some careful measurements i have worked out how i will be modifying the locker and tubes(more on that later).

I got some time in the shed tonight and was able to get the missing link locker modified and the work done to the front tubes.

My VP chubs were only splined half way into the hub, from my research they are all like this now,
IMG_3966.jpg

This was stopping the hub going onto the tube all the way, my solution was to turn the splines off the end of the tube.

Next was to modify my missing link locker to make it fit inside the RCBros tube.
So into the lathe it went, my finished od on the lockers snout was 7mm

Now time to work on the tube, i picked a 19/64 drill bit which converts to 7.54mm, it was drilled just under 1inch deep.

Thats all for today

Man, I wish you luck with that locker. I could have just sent a non sleeved version? I couldnt get them to last more than a pack though.

Interesting. I just checked all my scale and standard chubs and they are half splined too.

I will have to check mine tonight. I feel like I would've noticed because all my stuff has splined tubes (granted only one is an aluminum tube).

Surely that would be a batching error. Given the wide and numerous applications of these hubs. Their axle tubes would also need to be match machined to suit.

I thought similar but after looking on vanquish website I found all of their pictures seem to look the same.

And I have scale and non scale knuckles. I could see myself randomly getting the same batch even though I order them at completely different times and different colors. I cant imagine the scale and non being in the same batch though?

I wonder if its an error or if its to make the parts proprietary to them somehow?

By the looks of it from the vp website the splines are the same as the clamping chub/lockout design. They must have changed to that spline length on all ar60 spline components.

Josh

F9's would be the most recent axles out of VP and even these have the splines at full length. It just seems like such an odd thing to do.
