Interest in Rally?

I've been thinking about adding a rally section to the site, what do you guys think?

You don't like Tanner, you don't like Pastrana, but you love Block?

Damn do you have a thing for guys that actually know how to drive?

Yes!!! Add Rally! i'll mod it! :)

I think Tanner is a good driver, but a whiner and too cocky.

I like Pastrana, lots of respect for his craziness, but Block is a better driver.

Ok so first draft of some rules. Lets work them out and make sure Jason can't find a loop hole.:ror:

Rally Track (HOON 470) Rules:

Mini Trophy Truck Class Rules:
The purpose of the class is to appear scale and stock to a HPI Mini Trophy Truck
-Must be a HPI Mini Trophy Truck with stock wheel base, including track width.
-Vehicle must appear to be in stock form, I.E. ride height, body and full cage.
-Wheels must be 1.9 inches in size.
-Tires must be within .1” of stock tire size (3.7”), no cut and shut tires.
- Tires are not to exceed the width of the body.
-All suspension and drivetrain modifications are allowed. Including adding dual shocks, locking diffs, etc.
-All power, motor, ESC and steering systems are allowed.

Open Rally Class Rules:
This class was created to mimic vehicles that would be seen in the WRC and Rally America events, This class is not for Dakar style SUVs or off road trucks.
-Must be 10th scale and use a 190mm or 200mm Sedan or hatch back car body.
-Tire must be inside of body wheel openings
- Tires must be existing 1.9 car rally tires (such as Associated, HPI, Duratrax, Academy or Tamiya).
-All power, motor, ESC and steering systems are allowed.
-2 wheel or 4 wheel drive is allowed.

Dakar/truck class:
This class is for 10th -12th scale off road trucks and SUVs, such as (but not limited too) Cayenne, Racing Lancer, Tourag, F-150, Hummer.
-Motors are limited to 20 turns and up too 7.4 volts.
-Tires and wheels are limited to 1.9” wheels and a max tire size of 4.3”.
-Tires and wheels must be inside of the bodies existing wheel wells.
-Independent suspension is recommended, but not required.

That just killed the RS4 rally truck... my tires are 1/8" outside the wheel wells with the narrowest wheels/tires, and I'd prefer to use my 3 cell lipo to save the motor from overheating. (Why is the dakar class the only one with battery restrictions?)

For the Open Rally Class, can we use non-rally style bodies like Mustangs and RX-7's or is it limited to only vehicles that have been run in a rally in 1:1?

i think travis rules them all....block cant ride a bike worth crap.....motored or not...travis can board/drive/ride generally kicks @$$....and well yeah tanner is a whiner

Gonna head down and pick up some paint for my airbrush.

Now what scheme to go with???

I would prefer to run stock tires on the Mini Trophies, but I can live with those rules. "thumbsup"

Here or RCSC, doesn't matter to me but it would be cool to have a section. I want to do a build thread on mine.

I don't hate Block, Tanner makes me laugh with his cockiness and whining so I don't hate him either. I just like Pastrana better and have been a fan of his since X Games '99. So I gotta rep my boy. I do think Pastrana is a better driver and got lots of respect for his win it or crash attitude. :ror:

While I appreciate being different, why not just make it a rally car. Change the body and the tires.

Just ordered one of these for the MTDT"thumbsup"

Hey Jason, are you going to run the TC3? If you don't, want to sell it?

I'm not sure exactly sure what I am going to do at this point. The TC3 is sitting here.

I also have a 4tec in the mail on it's way here. I'll probably end up running the 4tec, but until it gets here and I check it out I can't say for sure.

Let me know either way. I was going through my parts boxes last night and found some TC3 parts, so I think I'm going to go that route.

.

Not that it will ever happen, but what if another manufacturer comes out with a 1/12 Mini Trophy Truck to compete with the HPI? This rule could be a problem.

I think if there is an FOFF section, Rally would be fine too. Then again, it would also be good on RCShortcourse since these are intended for speed. Either way I think it would be good to have a section somewhere.

What about RCRally.com? Then it could be structured the same as RCC with sections for each vehicle.

If that is an attempt to ward off my patented Trophy Truck enema move it isn't going to work.

Also according to SCORE rules slower moving vehicles are supposed to have a blue facing rear light. :flipoff:
