First off, it has been more than a few years since I have posted anything. So I just had some spare time and decided to build a Scx24 based unit.
It’s going to be a hodgepodge of parts purchased over the next month or so depending on my motivation. At any rate here is the list that I will be going through. This will be my first micro crawler build so if I am forgetting anything, or you have a recommendation vs one part to the next, please feel free to let me know.

Working parts list
Chassis - mofo Rc UAF v2 aluminum (purchased)
Skid - mofo Rc aluminum skid (purchased)
Trans - mofo Rc bulletproof (ordered a generic trans for now)
Axles - mofo Rc x15 nylon (purchased)
Links - injora gladiator length stainless steel high clearance (printed links for the time being)
Servo - mofo black label dp
Motor/esc - furitek starter brushless combo (purchased the stinger combo)
Wheels - dj crawler retro deepdish (printed temporary wheels for now)
Tires - injora rock terrain s5 compound? (Found some tires on marketplace)
Shocks - 43mm something set up in droop (purchased OGRC oil shocks)
Driveshafts - steel something gladiator length (got stock axial shafts from LHS)
Body - proline cliffhanger (printed a total body from thingiverse)
Random bits - battery, hardware, body mounts, etc etc….
Rx/tx - futaba 3pv and a decased receiver (purchased many years ago)

That mofo servo is cheaper than the servo I was going to buy. I’m strongly considering that over the injora. Thanks for sharing that with me.

I printed a front body mount today using my daughters toy box 3d printer. I can’t remember how to post pictures on here but it will come back to me. Here is the link to the body mount I found.

It turned out ok for for her printer not being super high end or anything

Figured it out, I knew this app was still on my phone for a reason.
Anyway here is the printed part.

Got in the chassis and the center skid today. I decided to put them together while I’m waiting on more parts.

I printed a couple motor mounts, not sure if I will use them since I’ll be going with the furitek system.

The axles from mofo should be here in a couple days so I’ll have to print some links to see if there is a wheelbase I prefer.

I started printing a body I found on thingiverse. I’ll have to figure out mounts and do a lot of finishing work on the body, the kiddos printer isn’t the best for this kind of stuff.

Here is the body so far, I’m definitely going to have to play around with mounting it and attaching the fenders and hood to the cab. It’s a little rough, I guess that’s why the files are free, but I think it is coming together.

I wish I had access to a bigger printer to print the front as one piece since I had to cobble it together, the bed I am happy enough with though.

I got my axles from mofo today, the front links are good but the rear are wayyy too long, I decided to just go ahead and paint the body, it turned out, meh….. but good enough for me. So all that is left on the list to make this a working car is: motor/esc, transmission, wheels/tires, shocks, servo, and make some body mounts. We will see how long that takes, it’s starting to be a busy time of year for me so progress will be slowing.

I installed the new shocks from OGRC I ended up not using the springs they just felt too stiff. I also ordered the furitek stinger system, and a generic Amazon trans today. All that should be coming in throughout the week so I can at least get this little guy running before I get too busy to mess around with it.

I got the transmission and driveshafts installed, I settled on deadbolt rear length for both the front and rear. Servo and motor/esc should be in today and I can wrap this little sucker up. I still need to come up with a rear body mount I’ll probably just make a tab and glue a magnet onto it I also mounted the transmission in rear facing so I can keep my battery up front and as low as possible.

There is a small amount of tire rub but I think I can live with that. If not I’ll get the dremmel out and clearance the body a smidge.

Overall these little rigs are pretty fun and relaxing to build. It may be just enough to get me back into the hobby, I’ll have to try a couple local comps and see what I think.

Great custom build! How do those tires perform? I got a set for very cheap 62mm but they are on the hard side.

They are definitely on the stiffer side, I would say not ideal for any real comp type stuff but just goofing around they work fine. They are marginally better if you star cut the foams but my truck is pretty light so it didn’t make much of a difference.

Thank you. That's what I figured, a bit useless. Too bad, I have the same tire in 2.2. Wanted to have matching tires in a different scale.
