Can some please tell me if Windows 10 Pro

Creates a bunch of USB drives, I ask because

I had Windows 8.1 Pro with one internal 160 TB's hard drive and one 1 TB USB drive

and after installing Windows 10 Pro when you look in the Device Manager

It shows the Internal 160 TB's hard drive and the 1 TB USB drive and it shows

Generic compact USB device

Generic MS/MS-Pro USB Device

Generic SD/MMC USB Device

Generic SM/XD-Picture USB

And if you look in This PC after you click on the folder icon on the task bar

Its show a D,E,F,G USB drive

And when you click on any of them it says there is no disk

I don't understand cause they were not there in Windows 8.1 Pro

I uninstalled all of the USB drives, but as soon as you reboot there all

Back in the device Manager, and the D USB device opens a window

Every Time I start my desktop saying it wants the disk put in the drive

My DVD drive is a different letter so its not the DVD drive

I don't know why its asking for the disk to be inserted after start up

And The windows is still there

while I put the Window 10 disk in the DVD and then asks you if you want open the software on disk in DVD drive

Really don't get why its doing what its doing

And if you open the properties tab on each of the D,E,F,G drives it says

Free space 0 bytes Used space 0 bytes Capacity 0 bytes

I really don't get it now

Isent that cuz you have a card reader connected ?

I have too though i have to admit none of its many ports are listed among the other drives when there is no card inserted into them.

Your folder view is set to show hidden files. Normally your built in drives are hidden unless something is connected. Go to view, uncheck "show hidden items"

There is no card reader there is no hidden files been shown

And still asks every time I start my desktop to insert a disk into the D USB drive

I have inserted a flash drive in every USB port on my desktop and it Identifies every one of them

A different letter or drive and none of them say they are the D,E,F,G drive

So again what is going on

They are system partitions created during the installation. Used for recovery and maybe secure boot. You can clean some of them up but I would just let it be.

Must be an issue for only for Windows Pro.

I recently had to purchase a new PC
and it came with Windows 10 home edition.

And I'm not seeing similar issues.

Mine is a Dell, yours would be a Taco Dell

It's a I-7 3.4 G Intel and it rips, I had windows 8.1 Pro

It's not like, I'm a noob I have had a few desktops

And I like this the best, I got on the list with Microsoft for both my desktop and laptop

It took over a year in wait time, I was able to update the Laptop and have no problems with it, cause I don't use it that much, not like my desktop, its used daily

I made a Bootable Windows 10 Pro disk for my Desktop, and continued too use 8.1 Pro and was familiar with it, 10 I got to look for shit

I'm now trying Windows 10 again, I installed it when the download first came out and it had some problems, now its seem much better more stable to me

Except the USB thing I got going on

these are all drives made by windows for a card reader. is this a laptop or desktop that is having this issue? You typically see this from a laptop with a card reader in it but not always..

The video card is what my son wanted out of it.
and it's likely more PC then I'll ever need or use.

I'm not a gamer... so the son having a similar/compatible PC
swapped out my video card for his.
But his VC wasn't exactly sub-par by any means.
Just not as new or capable as mine is.

I bought it so my son can use it when I leave this earth.
Which probably isn't too far off.

So basically I'm just utilizing it until that day comes.
I really don't need this much PC...
because I don't(won't) use it to its full potential.

But he will... and now has an even newer/better PC then his own.

I think that's why I followed his advice on this purchase.

Is there even better out there ? ...I'm sure there is
but matters not to me.

Windows 10... is an all new ball game for me
Much different then XP and 7 was.
And I'm still adjusting to those changes.

Its my desktop, that I'm having problems with

My laptop is also a 17'' Dell I-7 3.2G Intel with Windows 10 Pro, And I looked in the Device Manager there is only the Hard Drive and the DVD and a 500 GB USB back up drive when I plug it in

Just like my Desktop did with 8.1 Pro with the 1 TB USB back up drive, when plugged in

I also have a brand new video card, it's a MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G and a brand new Corsair CX series 850 Watt power supply

The video card will not fit in my midsize Dell tower, it causes problems with the cables from the power supply cause its at the top of my tower and you have leave the case open it collects dust faster

The full towers and server cases, I looked at you mount the power supply on the bottom of the tower, so the video card has no obstructions and leave the case closed to get proper air flow and ventilation

Just don't have the $200 for nice one with the right ventilation and air flow and some cool features, I have seen some cheaper ones but didn't like the looks of them and had cheap fans, that wouldn't last long

Your post format makes my head hurt.

But like others have said, from what you have posted its the drive letters assigned to a card reader.

Do you have a card reader? either external USB or built into the case some where? On Dell's they took to building them into the side or along the edge of the case, not in a 3.5" bay.

There are 4 different slots on the top of my Desktop, I can put the memory card from my Camera in one of them and the memory card from my Samsung S3 with a mini to SD adapter in one

Ok the D: drive is the one, the camera memory card from my camera goes into, I took the card out of my camera and put in the slot and it finds the card and opens the files when inserted

I don't understand why it keeps asking for the disk to inserted after start up, unless there is a problem with the card reader, cause there are no Yellow Triangles in Device Manager

Telling you there is a problem with a device or driver conflicts

When you start windows it asks to insert a disk, on ONLY after you click on the drive letter does it ask you to insert a disk.

Windows 10 will list all devices it sees. So C is your main hard drive with Windows on it, D through G is your card reader. It will leave these listed as available drives as the carder is laying claim to them. They wont work unless you put a SD card in the card reader.

In windows 7 and 8, windows hid drive letters not actively being used. So they were always there you just never seen them.

Windows 10 they are list all the time.

I fixed the window that opened up after start up, buy taking the card reader out and blowing a can of the Duster stuff, and started the desktop with out the card reader plugged in, no windows or exceptions in the Device Manager

I then shut down, then plugged in the Card Reader and then started my Desktop, no more widow asking for the disk in the D: USB drive

So I guess I fixed it, cause I can still put my Camera memory card in and it identifies it and asks you if want to view the pictures

It seems to be working now

Got a whole new problem now, I can could not connect to the internet

It says I was on a unidentified network and no internet access

And if you run the network troubleshooting at the end it of in said Invalid IP Configuration

I then tried to manual connect to the internet its asks for the Network password which is on the bottom of my WIFI Router

It then verifies and try's to connect, it then says the password is incorrect, I put the password in 5 or 6 times and says the password is wrong

I then opened up the details of Ethernet connection, and opened the Command Com and typed in ipconfig it opens up and looked at both

I then type ipconfig/release it released the IP, I then typed ipconfig/renew and it renewed the IP

Those 2 troubleshooting tricks didn't work

I then unplugged the WIFI router and went directly from the cable modem to the desktop, instead of from cable modem to the WIFI then to the desktop, like it was earlier when it won't not connect

I'm going to re-plug in the WiFi and start my Desktop and see if it the router took a shit on me

Alrighty then I got the WIFI router working, it no longer has IP Configure issues

It took me a little while but I fixed all my issues and dusted everything and it should good awhile I hope
