How to make a micro indoor rock course. Tutorial

I returned all the Walmart stuff and got a piece of 1/2"x4'x8' and a piece of 2"x4'x8' pink foam from Home Depot. Overall, cheaper than Walmart for how much I'm getting. I wouldn't have had enough of the Walmart stuff. I did keep some of the balls though, 'cuz those will make quick 'n' easy rocks. I plan on starting with my platform this week, maybe tonight.

I'm just now getting started on my course! I took some of the styro balls and cut/gouged them into more realistic boulder shapes. I also had some formed styro that I broke into different sizes and shapes and one of the bigger ones I'm going to re-create from the styro board because I really like the shape of it but it needs to be twice as big. Took some measurements and plan on starting with that tonight.

I'll try taking some pics and posting them. Gotta find the spare camera first...

i sprayed some of that rustoleum crud on an expando foam mountain I made yesterday. wasnt quite dry this morning. a bit tacky. and still smelly.

project lightweight mountain in progress.
i live in apartment so I cant have mountains all over the place. girlfriend would disapprove. Im thinking Im going to put picture hangers on the back and hang em on the wall

I just tried to make one from paper mache, I think I've just made a gooey mess though. I'll try the foam next lol.

paper mache works well. Dont mix in too much water. you will want to throw some sand on it also. The glue dries really slick. Also burlap takes to mache process pretty well.

Where do you pick up the plaster ?
Was just at hobby people they had a rock mold in the red tag bin.
