How to fix the worm gear issue!!

I can't say for gears but in the 1:1 world a polished part holds more heat than un-polished.

I would think a polished gear would roll smoother and produce less heat.

I think the point is unpolished has more surface area to dissapate heat, kind of like the heat sink principle. But then this is just a WILD guess on my part:mrgreen:

Seems to support the performance gain that people get from running the gears with a drill to break them in.

I was just making an off-hand comment about a rough surface will dissipate heat faster than a smooth surface.

Course, the more I look at it, the dumber I feel8)"thumbsup"

OK - I apologize for not mentioning the fact that I did not have my Losi yet - I have however used the grease/rubbing compound method many times to polish gears and smooth out the mesh - I did it to my old R2D, which are famous for noise - it quieted down a bunch and was silky smooth. As I mentioned earlier - I will test this idea tomarrow and report back with photos
